September 8, 200222 yr comment_15200 Yes I am.... I cannot afford the outrageous price from a body shop.... Heck most want more to paint the car than I paid for it... I would much rather put my money into parts that make the car run better. I am no body man ,, but the car looks good enough to drive.. September 8, 200222 yr comment_15201 I agree, mine is the same way.... I need to do something tho, primer is not waterproof and that concerns me... I may have to look into rustoleum Yellow....What the heck, it's close enough to Ferrari yellow anyway. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2935-car-of-the-month/?&page=2#findComment-15201 Share on other sites

September 8, 200222 yr comment_15204 I was going to use a paint sprayer and shoot the rustoleum on that way. But the paint didn't harden very well.... The stuff in the spray cans gets real hard real fast.. Shoot it today, wet sand it tomorrow... I still need a little more work to be as good as possible (for me), but it looks good enough for now.. Remember tha hard pard is the surface prep... Total work = 95% surface prep 5% paint and polishing. September 8, 200222 yr comment_15205 what grain did you use to wet sand, 1200? Now you have me curious...As much as I don't think of this as my final way of doing this, it will protect it better for now, primer for a long time is not a good idea...you never said how many cans...And how many coats before you wetsanded??? September 8, 200222 yr comment_15207 I used the 16oz cans they were on sale at Meijers. It took about 4 cans of primer, and 6 cans of white.. Be carefull some pain colors cover better than others. I painted it yellow the first time, It looked pretty good, but I ran out of primer, ao I used a different color to finish priming... I showed through the paint. And it became obvious pretty quick that I could not afford enough to make it cover the difference. Of course I was using cheaper paind that time also. It was Meijer brand.. September 8, 200222 yr comment_15208 I started with about 400, and worked down to 2000 grit... As you are doing this you will find more and more little spots that need more filler. I still have many spots that need work, but they are mostly pretty small. I have got to start rereading my posts. I sure am a bad typist.
