I just noticed that on e-bay there is a 240z crackfree dash on ebay. I was wondering if its original. I was thinking I might go for it. The Item number is: 140265812659. What do you guys think. I currently have a MSA cover on mine.

Damn!!! Those really do get expensive.

What is the condition of your current dashboard? You might consider repairing it; it will cost you a lot less than this one; although it will take a bit of blood and sweat to get it done.

If you are going for showroom quality, maybe that isn't the right path for you.

A year ago, I won a bid on a crack free 78' 280Z dash with all gauges and paid $800. When I got the dash, it was all I was hoping for. The down side, I had problems with the seller and it took me me over 90 days to recieve it. For the money and mential anguish I went through, I should have just repaired the old one or put a cap on it. FWIW. Good luck.

Now that I think about it, since Im not looking for showroom quality, I just might leave it like it is. I currently have a dash cap. It looks ok. If I decide to take the cover off, I will send it out to have it repaired.

Yes, they do get expensive... I suspect that this one may get even more expensive than the $600 range that it's in as I write this.

Yep, moving on up. My guess is that it will come close to doubling that at the end. The last few seconds of this auction have the potential to be very interesting. I'm glad that I'm not in the market for one!

FWIW, it's better to go the cheaper route in fixing what you currently have, then obsessing over the imperfections of your Z and spending lots of money.

I went through a similar obsession with fixing my cracked dash a few months ago. I got it done, and it looks better (spent about 50 bucks to do it) --- but it was a major headache, and in the end i have it covered up with a fabric dash cover that I had on there before I even repaired it. I'm glad I got it fixed, but thats one of those things you'll be happy with for a few days, then kind of forget about a week later. No sense in dropping some big moola on something like that, especially because you won't really ever make it back.

It would be sad to spend such big bucks and then have it crack on you later on.... I prefer the repair route as well. But, I own a 'driver', not a show car. Therein likely lies the difference.

I've had three Series I dashes shipped... all three were destroyed in shipping. You wouldn't believe the hassles trying to get the insurance company to pay... takes years...

It went off at $620. Not nearly the activity that I thought it would get. Wrong again. Hopefully that's the worst error I'll make this week. Wish me luck.
