Posted September 20, 200816 yr comment_261038 i was trying to pass a semi truck goin up a steep grade on the highway i was goin 55 in forth gear so i put it in third and floored it and past the semi and got a little ways ahead. then as im bout to shift back into forth all of a sudden i lost all power and and i slow down very fast and then semi comes roaring past me and the driver shoots me a crazy look and then i see white smoke came bilowing out from the grill. i try to restart it and nothing happens. i opened the hood and white steam billows out. i had my buddy pick me up and he said coolent was comming out from one of the gaskets and my motors blown and i says no way. September 20, 200816 yr comment_261047 You may have just blown a coolant hose, as that volume of white smoke is not normally generated by a head gasket failure. Check it out when it cools down and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you overheated for a looonng time, you could have head damage, so you'll need to check that, too.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29426-my-motor-blew/#findComment-261047 Share on other sites
September 21, 200816 yr comment_261052 I agree, if a butt load of white smoke was coming out of the exhaust, then I'd be worried. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29426-my-motor-blew/#findComment-261052 Share on other sites
September 21, 200816 yr Author comment_261056 i finally got the zed back to my pad. my buddy said it was the head gasket. i bought some gasket sealer and sealed it up. it now runs again. i bought a couple more tubes of it and put them in the glove box in case it happens again. now i know this is not the way to do it but the car is just to far gone to put the money into a new engine and it is my only transportation so no time to fix anyway. atleaste it drives again. September 21, 200816 yr comment_261059 If you blew a head gasket, and you used some type of block sealer, it's only a temporary fix. If this is your only means of transportation, you're going to have to consider something else either now or when (not if) the 'quick fix' fails. And, Jim, I hope this isn't antoher one of your threads designed just to get a reaction. In the words of Mick Hucknall (from the group; Simply Red): "That's all I've got to say......" September 21, 200816 yr comment_261073 I can't imagine running a car with a blown head without getting it machined (fixed) - You can get the head done for relatively cheap at a machine shop; I would imagine 100 - 150$. September 21, 200816 yr comment_261108 my buddy says its a rare car so i might restore it instaid. start making me offers if ur interested please.Well, cafe, we seem to be back at the place where we were a while ago with you seemingly rattling our chains for a reaction. You'll recall that there were requests for pictures a while back, and I don't recall any being posted (if there were, I missed them). So now you are "taking offers" on the rare mystery Z-car! Interesting concept in that I have never seen any evidence that it exists. Let us know how that works out, as most of us have a barn full of very rare automobiles (in our dreams), and we'd be more than happy to sell them to a cash paying customer. Good luck either way that you decide to go, but under the current circumstances, I wouldn't expect much of a response from us on the offer to sell. If you ever decide to get serious, and stay that way for more than a day, I think you'll find this gang very helpful.... you just don't seem to be able to do that for more than a post or two. Sblake01, your advice to us is good stuff. I shall be done now. September 21, 200816 yr comment_261109 and he was like way...and i was like no way...and he was like way...Rare? who are you kidding? not in the USA. With a blown engine it ain't worth much at all.Put some leak sealer stuff in the radiator also and you'll be back to trying to smoke up the rear wheels in no time.
