Posted September 7, 200222 yr comment_15095 Hey, I am wanting to get a tripple gauge aftermarket set for my 72. I am wondering though, For my oil pressure gauge, I will need to remove my oil press. sending unit near my oil filter, and screw in the new probe for the gauge. But, doesn't this car have a fail safe that will shut off the engine if theres no oil press.? If so, what will I need to do to get around that? Also, what size is the oil pressure and coolant temp sender threads/fittings? September 7, 200222 yr comment_15099 As far as I know there is no fail safe. If you run out of oil pressure, the engine will continue to run. But only for a little while. Are your stock gauges broken? I have never had a problem with them on my previous cars. September 7, 200222 yr Author comment_15109 Alright, I was just curious since I'd heard of other cars haveing them. No, my stock gauges are fine...Just that my water temp gauge only has like the 120 250 marked on it..I just want something more accurate and easier to read, Same with oil press. ThanksStill Curious on the thead sizes for those if anyone knows off hand. September 7, 200222 yr comment_15115 I think the thread size is 1/8 NPT, not sure about that but it sounds right to my failing memory. Most of the better gauge packages usually come with an adapter of some type that will work. If possible try to use a mechanical gauge as they will be the most accurate. September 7, 200222 yr Author comment_15122 Alright, hopefully this should work without trouble then. I will be installing tomarrow probally. Yea, I am getting mechanical gauges. Just can't really find any descent place to put the 3 gauge pod, so for now its going on top of the dash in the corner until I get the time to make a spot for them in the dash. Thanks! September 8, 200222 yr Author comment_15162 Holy Crap, what is with the stock temp sensor? I pulled the wire off, then unscrewed the fitting, thinking that it was a normal sensor and was all one peice, but soon discovered that its not. So I took the theaded thingy out, and tried to get the sensor out, but it just dont move...Any advice on how to get it out? ThanksHope you like the brakes...I would love to try mine, but the damned stupid Ford parts dept. hasn't gotten my lines in yet, so its still drive-way bound until Monday probally.
