IGNORED

Cleveland RockZ National Convention

I just got back from Cleveland. It was great to finally meet some of you and see more Z cars in one place than I have even seen in this part of the country. The weather was off and on rain, but the majority of the show was indoors, so it didn't cause too much grief. The drive home was wetter than I would have liked, but it was worth getting the Z wet.

I'm sure there will be tons of pictures posted by others, so I hold off posting mine for now and fill in the blanks as needed.

Thanks to the ZCCA and Cleveland Z club for hosting an event in the sparcely Z populated midwest (or North Coast as it's known to Ohioans).

It was a pleasure meeting you and the others (too many to remember!) and to see some nice cars. IMO, the people that really do make an event successful is the people that attend. Wthout those people, no amount of planning, sponsors, and good for & music can do it.

(not Tomo- I just look like him. :D )

Hats off to the ZCCA & host club, the Z Association of Cleveland for a very enjoyable show today. I had the pleasure to briefly meet with many of the people whose hard work & dedication made this show a success. Good luck and have fun during the rest of the convention.

Those of you who didn't make it to the show-get off your Butts and make the next one!

I have come to two in a Volvo-so not having the Z ready is no excuse. I even brought my whole family (My wife, a soon to be two year old, a sooner to be four year old, and me!). If you want to really experience the wealth of the Z life, a convention is the way to do it Tons of sponsors, tons of door prizes, tons of Z people, tons of cars, and TONS of fun! I met a bunch of members, saw several of their cars-ranging from every penny spent to go fast to every penny spent to enjoy ownership! When you see the pictures my meaning will be clear!

If you have never been to a ZCCA convention, you need to make it a point to get to one-if it involves a Z it happens there!

Real good to meet all of you! Wasn't that a blast?!?!!! Boy, did I get the Z-immersion for the past week! Whew! Great car show even if it was horrible weather. Cleveland did a bang-up job. For me, track day was the highlight culminating with a ride in the GT-R Nissan sent up for the day. Spent more time on the track at Mid Ohio than I ever thought I would. I'm very glad I made it to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. Cleveland doesn't have a Hooters so the pervs went to Outback and harrased some poor young bimbo named Jamie. Did the dinner cruise and the train ride also. Talked to John Yukawa one evening. Got my fill of ZCCA politics and future plans. Just a great time!

It was a blast. I don't tink I would say the weather on Tuesday (car show day) was horrible, but it is the kind of thing that will keep people talking about it for a while. And the ironic thing is that the weather yesterday & today ( Friday & Saturday) would have been perfect for the convention and sightseeing- except for the FL and TX people! LOL

I recently put a lot of effort & sone money into the windscreen wiper system, and I'm glad I did. Otherwise I would've been grounded to driving only during the day, on the nicer days.

I don't think there is anything that you could say was bad, or needed improvement, like if the registration system was being consistently botched (which it wasn't) but we have already discussed a few things we'd do a little differently in retrospect.

Next time- I'd like to win the MegaLotto first. Then we'd hire everything out to some pros and the convention would be totally free, including lodging, for everyone that signs up!

thxZ

  • 2 weeks later...

You may want to take a look at the clevelandrockz.com website soon. There will be a section where the surplus items from the convention will be listed for sale. Things like duffle bags, T-shirts, banners, hand-made engine dress-up parts and maybe even the 300ZX engine parts like intakes & turbos.

thxZ
