Arne Posted October 3, 2008 Share #13 Posted October 3, 2008 arne do you think i could get away with the original 919 yellow combined with the modern finish of carbon fibre on bumpers??Personally? Yeah, I think it'd be fine. Before I made the decision to part out my yellow 240Z, I was thinking of using fiberglass bumpers on it, since the chrome bumpers I had for it were trash. Had I done so, I think I would have painted them the same color as the tail finishers. Not all that much different than carbon, really.
five&dime Posted October 3, 2008 Share #14 Posted October 3, 2008 I think that any CF or even anything dark in color will look great with the yellow. A yellow Z with CF hood, dark grey or CF bumpers and some anthracite watanabe's with a polished lip would look sick!!!
rahail240 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted October 3, 2008 now your talking!! priced up cf bonnet with race on usa. brilliant price on e bay. some guys have bought for as little as 300usd on their best offer system on e bay. these are fibreglass hoods with real carbon top skin. however got a price of 899usd for shipping to u.k!! ouch!! asked if this was total price inc bonnet. no response. we have an agent for MSA here in uk. may price it up. but not yet. another nice zed from the site here WITH AND WITHOUT CF HOOD. same car. maybe wheels and chrome bumpers but i think without c/f hood looks better. what d'ya think?? also close up of phoenix yellow with carbon bumper. the wheels let down this IMO. but color does grow on you. five&dime Posted October 3, 2008 Share #16 Posted October 3, 2008 Keep in mind that first pic has a real high saturation. Someone messed with it in Photoshop or equiv. so that color is far from accurate. I love the way it looks in the last photo
beandip Posted October 3, 2008 Share #17 Posted October 3, 2008 rahail240, It my be obvious what color I prefer. What I did was to look at the body shapes of the autos that caught my eye and how the colors looked on each one. My thoughts are that not every car looks good with the same color. I have seen some beautiful paint jobs that didn't compliment the auto it was on. The color I chose ''Screaming Yellow'' the 2005 Ford Cobra color. In my opinion looks awful on a sedan . Likewise a beautiful color on a sedan on a small sports car can look the same. I personally think that a bright color on a sports car is appropriate. I subscribe to the ''I rather stand out , rather than blend in", Adage, for what it's worth. Gary

suzook86 Posted October 9, 2008 Share #19 Posted October 9, 2008 How about burnt orange, like the new Mitsubishi Eclipse.
beandip Posted October 9, 2008 Share #20 Posted October 9, 2008 One thing to think about, and Arne mentioned it , is the use of metallic or pearl, I came vary close to adding a gold pearl to the clear on my Yellow. It would have been beautiful , however this last year at the Historic Races there was some slight damage done to my passenger side front fender. This required the repaint of the whole fender and door. Had there been Pearl or Metallic in the paint I would have been screwed because it would have been impossible to match exactly. Oiluj Posted October 9, 2008 Share #21 Posted October 9, 2008 I like the look of white Z's. How about a pearl white? Lexus as a nice shade.
rahail240 Posted October 9, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted October 9, 2008 thanks for the extra suggestions guys. beandip your right on the button with the whole future repairs scenario. it makes me more and more sway towards a solid color. i think a solid color won't date like a modern color. arne, zero, doug and co have me hooked on yellow at the moment. loving the look of this 240z in oz painted in pastel yellow. the mirrors are of old ford. they really suit the lines of the car. what do you think?
