Was the window wet or dry? I ask because Datsun 240Z wipers run like crap on dry windows and not that much better on wet windows.

The wipers DO go faster on hi but it's hard to tell if they are really going that much faster. You contradicted yourself in your question above. You said "Wipers don't run on high speed" then you said "They seem to run at the same speed on both switch locations"

So which is it, do they NOT work at all? or do they just seem the same on both speeds? Datsun wiper motors just flat out SUCK. You might want to start with pulling the motor so you can pull the linkage (it's VERY easy to do, just 3) 8mm screws on each arm and the 12mm nut on the motor. And of coarse, the 4) 10mm bolts that hold the motor in place.

The pivot arms need to be cleaned with Brake cleaner or something similar, then regreased. Clean as much goo out of the arm sleeves as possible and oil them up. Just make sure everything is well lubed and operating nicely then reinstal. Make sure you have the rubber boots over the wiper arms to keep future moisture out of them.

Check all of your connections after you put it all back together. And NEVER run the wipers on a dry window.

That should get ya started.

Dave.

On a lot of Datsuns, when dry, you can't even get the wipers to move except on high. The motor, if turning, is just the stock setup. Look up/into the Honda wiper motor and relay upgrade.

That's the thread on it, and if you can get the right motor, it makes a HUGE difference.
