Hey everyone! My name is Liz and I recently bought a 260z [i don't know how many previous owners]. Truthfully, I was aiming for one that was 1975 or older just so I wouldn't have to do smog. haha.. Anyways, I'm 17 right now and without a job, but trying to get one which means that rebuilding this car will take a long time, at least compared to an older person already with a steady income.

Here are a few pictures:

a few rust areas, here's the biggest one on the roof.. the penny is there to show the thickness of the chunk a friend of mine broke off the day i got it.

- oh and, i'm planning on getting a new hood anyways so the rust on it doesn't bug me

As of right now, it is sitting at the back of my house because the driver side door lock does not work and the brake is horrible.

Btw, does anyone know where I can find a new brake booster/master vac? because i think that's the problem of my brakes. Thanks!

Hi, Liz, and welcome to the best bunch of Z knowledge on the planet.

Based on what you said and the pics you posted, you'll need to arrest the rust monster pretty quickly else you'll end up spending a lot more than you need to.

It's hard to diagnose a brake problem from what you said, so expect more questions.

Hello Liz,

Welcome to the group.

That rust spot on the roof is rust under a layer of Bondo that someone in years past used to smooth out a bumpy roof panel before they painted it. I hate to say this, but there is likely a lot more rust hiding under the body filler that remains.

Oh, and a bad brake booster would generally make the brake pedal hard to push. If the pedal is soft and spongy you might have a totally different problem. (There are of course exceptions to that statement...)
