That system hasn't been available since the 1978 Datsun Competition Department catalog. That's even before the name was changed Nissan/Datsun Competition Dept. then Nissan Competition Dept. and finally Nissan Motorsports. Good luck. If someone still has an entire unused, intact system, it will likely be costly. Best bet would be to take that pictire to a competant exhaust shop and have it built.

so this part is a USDM part or also JDM?

US only. Was built by a company named Clifford Engineering, and marketed both by Datsun Competition and Clifford directly.

I knew that. As I said in the Twice Pipes thread, other people have already done all this research before you, to no avail.

I remember ordering those catalogs out of the back of Road and Track...wish now I had tried harder to get some parts out of them.

I was about to say, Clifford is still in business, but if you say you called them and they said no go, then you're out of luck. Unless you get a dual-outlet header and have a good exhaust shop copy it, as mentioned.

Don't sweat it Toxic. That exhaust system hasn't been available for what seems like a long time now but it doesn't look very hard to build either. Any good exhaust shop should be able to fabricate you a setup like that. They're mostly straight pipes with a few bends here and there.

The suggestion to take the picture with you is good as it gives the exhaust fabricator some idea of what you want.

Most headers that I've seen join the first and last three cylinders groups together already. Then they join the secondaries to form a single system. Just cut the seconary pipes before they merge into one pipe and continue on from there. Too easy.

Oh, one more thing, I don't mind you using my picture, just say from where you got it from ok :classic:.

Little late to the conversation, but here is my 2cents.

I purchased the entire system when I bought my car in 1979 from Bob Sharp Datsun. I ran the system until 89, when it go so loud, and I was able to purchase a Abarth system for the car ( which I still run). I kept the headers and had a adapt to the original Clifford header. I have contact Clifford a few times about reproducing the dual system again, and as you have heard, not going to happen. I was told it would be cheaper to have a local shop do it.

Well, fast forward to 2008, and I get a PM from Arne about a guy in Medford Oregon, who had a 240z exhaust system for sale on craigslist. As it turns out, he had already sold the header, but had the tail sections, new in the box! I got a hold of him and purchase the entire thing for $100. Thanks to this forum, and guys like Arne, dreams do come true.......

Anyway, I was thinking I could get someone to reproduce the tail sections off of the original system, that way I could run the reproduction and keep the original. That way, others that might be interested in running this system could do so. I am not sure about finding a header that will match, but I would be interested in that too, as mine has been on the car for a long time, but works great!!!

Anyway, Let's see how much interest there is in reproducing these things!

I think if I were going to do it, I'd repro the connecting tubes to mate up with the un-merged collectors from an MSA 6-into-2 header. Easily available, and should be easy to fab.
