mystery hardline?

on the drivers side in front of the wheel... there is a bracket with 2 vacuum lines (i think... they were so cracked i took them off), and 1 hardline that runs towards the firewall, under the brake lines and then down the transmission tunnel. the bracket is located in front of the strut and right under the ignition coil. in the picture i took off the 2 vacuum lines, so there are just 2 nipples where the lines should attatch.

This appears to me to be the "Flow Guide Valve"

It's part of the emissions Sys. It's on page EF20 of the serv. man. (I know.. if you had the Manual...)

There should be some letters engraved or stamped on the body.

A)=Air Cleaner should connect to the rear of the stock air cleaner

C)= Crankcase there should be a small nipple off of the larger crankcase breather tube on the "drivers side" below the intake/exhaust near the front of the engine.

F)= Fuel Tank This is the short Rubber to Hardline going to the fuel tank. (line your are asking about) actually to the vapor liquid separator tank.

The fuel flow thingy lets fresh air from the air cleaner flow eventually to the fuel tank, as you use-up the fuel in the tank one of the jobs of this valve is to "relieve" the vacuum in your fuel tank, (so as not to starve carby's).

The other job is to vent the pressure, when the engine is not running, and fuel vapors accumulate (build in the fuel tank and liquid separator) once the pressure builds to .04 inHg the little flow valve thingy allows these vapors to be accumulated in the crancase. When the engine is started these fumes should be sucked into the intake manifold an burned, that is of course if everything is hooked up factory.

There are springs and balls inside that move to open and close the direction of vacuum/pressure.

Whew!! thats a lot of typin' for a hunt and peck single digit keyboard operator.! :stupid:
