I’ve just purchase a 240z part car with a lot of nice racing stuff but not sure will be using all of them.

It have a L28 F54 block with a E88 ported and polish head, larger valve, modified cam (don’t have any spec), Clifford header with dual pipe, 240z European distributor, Triple weber’s DCOE 45, Baffled oil pan 7-quarter, oil cooler with remote filter, electric fan, and a few more.

My intention is to drop the L28 in my 240Z but I really don’t think I need the baffled oil pan and the cooler (how many oil for an oil change would that need!). Neither the Weber’s. Will use my SU with SM needle if required and standard oil pan. The car is for street use only.

My question is will have heating problem or others problems by removing the baffle oil pan, oil cooler and weber from that motor set up?

Thanks for your help,

Joce

I don't foresee any issues by removing the items above. A baffled oil pan and cooler just keeps the oil near the pickup under hard cornering and racing. The cooler keeps the oil at a decent temp under heavy driving. If you plan on using it under normal driving conditions, you should be more than fine without the pan and cooler.

The Triples can be detuned and you'll actually get decent milage and power out of them. I personally get over 25 MPG on the HWY with my triple Weber 40DCOE's.

Thanks!

That what was I'm was thinking but just want to be sure if I'm missing something.

For the Weber, I need to pass a mecanic inspection to have the car ack on the road and theses carbs are not allow.... so will have to work on the SU anyway. And honestly, those Webers are really nice but I don't have the knowlegde to tuned them and I really don't like having a shop doing it since they probably don't know on what they're working and they're taking $ out of my pocket.... I hate to pay for labor sorry!

We all know what they are worth, and what a pain in the butt they can be to tune and keep tuned. I was just wondering about where you stand when it comes to parting out the items you don't want or have any use for.

I have 40DCOE's and love them, but I also have a 260Z that I'm thinking of doing a triple set-up on. Just throwing it out there. My full line of upgrades is about $650 (Headlight ($125) and parking light ($50) harness's, LED taillights ($250), front ($100) and side marker LED's ($80), ZX adaptor plug ($15)

I'm strapped for cash so that's out of the question. Have a great time with your parts car, I wish I had one. And the room to store everything I need.

Dave.
