I like my pick'n'pull. Best $30 I've ever spent.

Went to my pick'n'pull yesterday to pull off a fuel pump; ended up taking home a bit more that I'd been planning on, but the price ended up being about right...

The place has had 2 '81 S130's sitting around for quite a while (I've posted about them in other threads), and the yard owner just doesn't seem to care about them. Works for me. Both are automatics, and the one I pulled the pump from appears to have the R-200 differential. I would assume the other has the same (way too many weeds/thickets/thorns to investigate, otherwise I'd have grabbed it's fuel pump as well).

So, yes, 30 bucks got me a fuel pump (cleaned it before taking the photo), two dizzies (both E12-92, unfortunately-but for parts and such), a set of Z centercaps that were just too nice to leave there, and a set of six spring injector connectors to replace my crumbly originals.

Nice score!! My dad and I (diseazd) found a rust free 72 at the local yard!!!! We were absolutely shocked. It had been stripped but we managed to get two rust free doors, a perfect hatch with glass and some miscelaneous other parts. Unfortunately the only part we really wanted was the passenger dogleg which had been hit prior :( The car was originally from Chicago so we haven't a clue how there was no rust. It still had the windy city Z club sticker on the 1/4 window.

I didn't even want to take pix b/c you all would be sick!!

Being from Minnesota I can speak to why there was no rust on the Chicago car... Because it is too freakin' cold and there is too much ice and snow to drive your Z about 5 months out of the year. I stored mine in a big barn with about 1000 RV, street rods, boats, etc...

and took photos of the T shifter from both.

Also got myself a rally timer...

The photos with leaves are from the 2 seater (donor of radio console and rally clock unit), the other is from the 2+2.

Just so you know, the 2 seater required my climbing through the hatch so that I could muscle the driver door open (pass was locked). The interior was filthy and full of leaves and nettles, even though it was sealed as tight as could be.

The 2+2 was clean inside, free of plant life; yet has had the passenger side window down for a very long time...

I'll be going back eventually for both diffs and one rear bumper.

Oh yeah.. Pick-N-Pull can be awesome. I was looking for the rear extension housing for the 5 speed I put in my '73. Nissan no longer makes it and I found it at some re-sellers for $150. My local Pick-N-Pull had 3 early 280-ZX 5 speeds and one already had the exhaust pulled. It took me 30 min to get the extansion housing out and I picked up a plug-n-play electronic distributor. Best $40 I've spent!

This was the Pick-N-Pull in Moss Landing, northern CA if anyone is looking for parts. The other ZXs have the 5 speeds and electronic distributors in them.

Wow, That makes me feel even more lucky to live in San Diego. We have 3 Ecologys and a huge pick your part that has a steady supply z parts. There has'nt been a fresh 240z in Ecology for 2 weeks now, thats a long time for our local yards.
