78' 280z NEED HELP!

I have almost given up! My car has run pretty well untill about 3 weeks ago. Before that it had some serious gas issues. I let the fuel tank get to low and now it wont start. Reading up on here it looks like the problem lies within the fuel tank. So I got the fuel tank restored, Changed the fuel pump, changed some lines, changed the FPR ect ect....still nothing! what else can I try?????

any help would be great!

Do you know what shape your injectors are in?

I haven't has this happen to me, but a long time ago a "Datsun only" mechanic friend of mine told me to avoid running my tank dry. He said it's possible to have debris lying on the bottom of the tank get up to the injectors and clog them.

I believe he said they can be cleaned and re-used.

The injectors are probably pretty bad. and I was already thinking that would be the problem.

So I just got done taking my injectors out and they were quite clogged up!

The best way to clean them would be??

To do individual injectors off the car, I connect the feed line for the cannister to the injector and place the injector in a jar. With it set at 40 psi, I pulse it with a tool I made which consists of a 9 volt battery, a momentary switch, and an injector connector. It only takes about 4 or 5 pulses to get the clog out and produce a good stream. But, like I said, you either have to have the tools or have access to the tools.

Don't know if you're still struggling with your injectors-- I tried setting up a little rig and "home cleaning" them myself, but didn't have much luck improving the flow pattern (or flow rate, from what my calibrated eyeball could tell me).

What I ended up doing was just packing my injectors up and sending them off to witchhunter.com. For $14 or so a piece, he professionally cleaned them up beautifully, with quick turnaround to boot. Once back in the engine, the performance improvement was quite noticeable. I'd recommend going that route if you can afford it.

I did about the same thing you have done with your fuel system in regards to the tank FPR, filter etc. Check the small screen in the fuel pump for debris. Look in the phone book and see if you can locate a fuel injection repair shop and take the injectors to them for cleaning and flow testing. I took mine to a shop that specializes in fuel injection systems and they charged $ 20.00 for cleaning each injector and doing the flow test. I came back in about 2 hours and picked my injectors up.
