October 30, 200816 yr comment_264898 Um, even I think that is a bit steep. I want the value of our cars to go up, but 40 grand is quite large for a factory 1997 recondition. But that's the "Buy it now", "wish" price. I'm thinking it could end-up selling in the mid-to-high 20's. October 30, 200816 yr comment_264902 Nice car, but not very realiztic pricing. Don't think it will sell. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29819-vintage-z-for-sale/#findComment-264902 Share on other sites
October 30, 200816 yr Author comment_264903 If I am going to pay that kind of money I want the A/C there or I wouldn't be interested. Why should I have to deal with it later? Who wants a car today without A/C? I find this ridiculous. October 30, 200816 yr comment_264904 I don't think many people buying a Z of this caliber care about A/C. I wouldn't even want a Z with A/C as the system was garbage anyway I can't see the link at work but if this car is like the sellers other Z's he has sold then mid-high 20's is a steal. Just ask my dad how much it costs to restore a Z car to this level And we have done a lot of work ourselves Edited October 30, 200816 yr by Zero Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29819-vintage-z-for-sale/#findComment-264904 Share on other sites
October 30, 200816 yr comment_264906 When I finish my 71 resto, I can guarantee it'll be more than $39,000.00. The seller probably paid over $30,000.00 from the program. I've heard he's very reputable too. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29819-vintage-z-for-sale/#findComment-264906 Share on other sites
October 30, 200816 yr comment_264908 This is the VZ formerly owned by ZRush. Note that the seller claims in the ad that this one is the best of the 7 VZs he has owned. I have no reason to doubt that. Who wants a car today without A/C? I find this ridiculous. And in answer...I don't think many people buying a Z of this caliber care about A/C. I wouldn't even want a Z with A/C as the system was garbage anywayQuite so. I could not care less about having A/C in a 240Z. And most owners of fairly original 240Zs do tend to feel this way, in my experience. In fact, when shopping for a 240Z of this type, the LACK of A/C is a plus, not a minus. People looking for this type of car want one that hasn't been mucked with. Who wants a car today without A/C? I find this ridiculous.I agree with Arne on this.....and besides, in '72 the A/C was a dealer installed option and some dealers did a good job and others did not. They used several different types of A/C setup and all were lousy by today's standards. I'd rather add a modern A/C setup to my car if I wanted to run A/C than use the old setup. I'm not really worried about A/C with the Z anyway as I don't need it in Oregon for very much of the year.Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29819-vintage-z-for-sale/#findComment-264913 Share on other sites

October 31, 200816 yr comment_264928 I don't think the price is too far out of line; premium condition commands a premium price in any type of a collector's market. I suspect it will sell for a bit less than the BIN price, but who knows... I am not in the same league or way of thinking as an individual who will spend that kind of money for a car I couldn't enjoy driving.... personally, I feel that for that kind of money I would rather purchase a non-program car in similar condition, but I suspect that most of them are sold privately without even getting to the market... (somewhat like good real estate). As for the AC, I would be happier without it in a 240Z. I took it out of my '72 quite shortly after I got it.
