It takes some skills to get flat tops to work right. When we used to do them some years ago, complete dissasembly and a bit of machine work was involved. Too much to go into here. You'd be better off swapping them out for a pair of Bruce's fine product.

It's been at least 20 years since I fiddled with a set of flat tops. Who 'overhauled' them for you? If they just threw 'kits' in them, that really won't cut it. What I do recall about them is that not everyone knows how to work on them so the they work properly even if they are well versed at rebuilding other types of carbs. That and I doubt if you could get the parts to properly rebuild them nowdays anyway. I know that we started by 'de-smogging' them; that is removing anything on or in them that was emissions control related. Your best bet today would be to swap them out for round tops. Lots of knowlege is out there to make those work.

Dustin, If you ask how many Z drivers are using flat top carbs you will not find but only a vary few. There is a reason... If you have a 260 that you must keep period correct in all regards, then I can see the point. Personally if this is the case and you wish to actually drive the Z. Buy a set of round tops to drive the car and install the flat tops to show. You will be glad you did. My 2cts. Gary

ohh ok. well i had them overhauled by a mechanic, who retired from nissan about 20 years ago. all i had to do was provide him with a pair of overhaul kits. what does these round tops look like? because some one corrected me that mines were bell tops. uhhh the float is located in the carb, and came stock with the 260z. i also dont think that i can afford to buy any new carb, and thats why i kinda want to stick with the one i got.

thanks

ill put some pics on latter
