Ebay....what parts can be trusted for my 240Z?

Does anybody here use the Nissan Fast program? It allows you to find part numbers and illustrations for all Datsun/Nissan vehicles from 1964-2005. It can be setup with any combination of the USDM, Euro, and Japan Home Market databases. It's kind of work intensive to set it up but once that's done it fairly easy to use. It's on the Xenon site if anyone wants to try it. http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html

Through my restoration - refresh process over the past 3 years, most of the ebay items I see are nothing more than a dealer purchased item and then marked up and put on ebay. I agree with everybody else, ocassionally you can find some NOS (New Old Stock) that the dealers and distributors do not have.......ie door panels - dashes - rear tail lights........ But for the most, it is just another mark up that somebody is pocketing the profit.

Between Courtsey Nissan - MSA - and the others listed above I feel they are the best shot on getting the best deals along with a premium product. If you let MSA know you are a CZCC member along with your membership number they will give you a 5 - 10% discount on most items ordered. If you don't have a salvage yard near you The Z Barn is pretty good. Roger has more stuff then he even knows and takes a little time to get back with you. I did just buy a diff a last month and it saved me so keep him as a contact. He has 1000's of parts and is located in the eastern side of Tennessee near Knoxville in Maryville, Tenn.

I have purchased a few good items off ebay because a lot of our items are flat out not made anymore and it's either ebay or a salvage yard.

By the way, don't use a Dremel on your steering wheel, just good old fashion elbow grease..........it will end up looking great once you complete it. My first one I used a Dremel and it removed too much of the composite. I didn't do that to the second one and it turned out great. I got my second one at a salvage yard for $10 dollars and an original Hitachi AM/FM radio for $15.00 that worked perfect, just a little clean up and good as new!! Yep, sold on ebay for :tapemouth

Hey everyone! I've been searching around Ebay, taking a look at common parts that might be useful for my 240Z sometime in the future (clutch kits, water pumps, etc). I just wanted to hear what kind of parts you guys bought from Ebay, and I was wondering how they're working out for you! Appreciate it guys =)

I've been trying to restore the original steering wheel and shift knob...i thought that was gonna be easy...ha :stupid:

Hi there, ive tried buying performance chips on ebay and it worked out fine for me. Well, that depends on the seller and the feedback he has. I just had to meet him up just to make sure that the descriptions were accurate though. :classic:

I was just wondering since the original poster, whom you quoted, directly asked a question about buyig parts on eBay and you linked to a page showing Superchips performance chips on car-stuff.com. I just didn't get the connection.

michaelross=SPAMBOT!!

As far as "the-z-connexion" and "reddat" are concerned, they both fall into the catagory that Walter Moore mentioned earlier. That is, they both will sell you parts that are usually available for less money elsewhere. As long as you are happy........
