Posted November 8, 200816 yr comment_265774 As the title says, I need an official ruling. I recently picked up a 70 from the estate of a guy in California. The guy who died was the original owner. After his death all papers for his cars were transferred to his estate executor including the title for the z. I know that "technically" the estate was the second owner but does that really count when bragging about my Z? Thanks for looking! November 8, 200816 yr comment_265777 The "estate" is only the transfer agent, carring out the wishes of the original owner. The agent for the estate, will transfer the title from the original owner directly to you.If the original owner put the car in a living trust, and transfered the title to the trust - then the trust is the second owner and you are the third. Title will transfer from the tust to you.FWIW,Carl B. November 8, 200816 yr Author comment_265781 Carl, Thanks for the quick reply. I think that I should have been clearer. Where I said "estate" I should have said "executor". The original title (which i have) had the original owners name on it. The title I have to transfer into my name has the executors name on it (it was the original owners nephew). Looks like I am the "third" owner. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29914-i-need-an-official-ruling/#findComment-265781 Share on other sites

January 23, 200916 yr comment_271854 Carl didn't lend "official" status to his answer so I will.Based upon the honor of officialdom bestowed to Her Majesty the 26th from the highest of all high atop Mt. Fuji, you are technically the second owner. Brag away! January 23, 200916 yr comment_271858 329 people know better-but my guess is they won't say anything:rolleyes:...but they'll know... If you had never said anything, you and the DMV would know-and trying to get info out of them is worse than pulling a spindle pin out of a corner that has been pulled and in the weeds for years!
