mally002 Posted November 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 10, 2008 For the experts that know a heck of alot more than me can you help me with a correct interior question.I am going to restore 797 back to it's original state and needed to know about the carpet. Would it have been Black in the front and hatch area for all cars. 797 is White with Blue interior and currently has Black front carpet and Blue hatch carpet. What would be the correct color for the interior carpet? Also, since the car has been media blasted and all imperfections corrected I will need new rubber for everything. I noticed that MSA sells a "kit" does this kit include all the rubber I'll need, or does anyone have a different vendor that sells the rubber in a kit. Thanks for any help, I'll try and get some pictures up soon.Randy

MikeW Posted November 10, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 10, 2008 I can't answer your carpet question but the weatherstrip "kit" is most certainly the aftermarket "Precision" brand kit. I used this kit myself and have no problem with it except for the door seals. There have been a lot of threads on this in the past so you should be able to find them easily with a search. As far as I know your only other option is to go with OEM Nissan rubber which will be more expensive and won't come as a set; you'll have to buy the pieces individually. Mike B Posted November 10, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 10, 2008 I am going to restore 797 back to it's original state and needed to know about the carpet. What would be the correct color for the interior carpet?Randy,All 240Z's had black carpet originally. Here is a thread where we discussed the original carpet variations in detail. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29317&highlight=recent+carpet&page=6I believe the carpet sets for the earliest cars were made by Chester and Herod in CA (see my post #127). I bought two sets for my two low VIN cars and I am very happy with them. I think they are the most accurate and I like that they are made by the company that actually made them originally. Make sure that you get the high quality loop with the clear rubber backing like I did, if you are looking for the closest match.-Mike
Arne Posted November 10, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 10, 2008 To the best of my knowledge, all of the kits are made by Precision. All should be fine with that except for the door seals. They will be a bit thick and a different type than the original (which had two piece seals). To be more correct, you could use the kit but buy OE seals in addition. five&dime Posted November 10, 2008 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2008 Apparantly the 240 seals are NLA from Nissan but you can use the 280 seals which are one piece.

Diseazd Posted November 10, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 10, 2008 I bought all of the OEM stuff......It was a little higher and you had to order individually as mentioned above. The bottom of the door piece and door seal are no longer available but as Brandon mentioned I ordered the 280 door seal (one piece with no welting). For front windshield and rear deck glass seal I would definitely go Nissan. If you bring it up with your local dealer you can probably negotiate 20-30% off. P.S. Glad the Vols finally fired Fulmer!
