Posted November 11, 200816 yr comment_266121 I (unfortunately) need to keep my 73 240z outside for a while until garage is de-cluttered and on occasion thereafter and was wondering what people here recommend for a good car cover. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29945-car-cover-recommendations/ Share on other sites
November 11, 200816 yr comment_266124 I bought a blue one off amazon made by "Budge" --- I wouldn't recommend it as a really high quality car cover. I don't think it's as waterproof as they make it out to be; although for the price, it might be worth it just for everyday protection (non-intense)...The cover is a little big for a Z by the way, but the excess could be tucked into the wheel wells; this slack is only a problem if there are high winds. They offer a long or lifetime warranty...i can't remember, i only know it was either like 10 years or lifetime...Anyways you mail it in at your cost, they replace it in like 2 - 3 months. Typical bullshit warranty you get with cheap products. The best bet would be to get a real waterproof cover that is made of a kind of vinyl or canvas (like a boat sail material)...If you are keeping your car covered in rough conditions, this is the best bet. Overall though, if you want to spend less than 50 bucks (in this case 36.99 + shipping) for a cover that will pretty much do the job in a moderate environment, and eventually be thrown out after a year or two; this is the one for you.http://www.amazon.com/100%25-Waterproof-Car-Cover-Fits/dp/B0011Z98Q0/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1226423507&sr=8-2 Edited November 11, 200816 yr by mikewags Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29945-car-cover-recommendations/#findComment-266124 Share on other sites

November 11, 200816 yr comment_266128 Covercraft is at the top of my list. I used to be a distributor for them years ago - still have a few assorted Porsche and Studebaker covers in the storage shed.Avoid waterproof covers as they tend to trap moisture on the inside of the cover and that plays all kinds of games with painted as well as exposed metal surfaces. A good poly-cotton cover allows trapped moisture to escape and is quite durable when used outside. They are also gentle on the painted surfaces. Wash the cover from time to time to get dirt/dust/sand out of it which can scratch the paint. Covercraft has custom fit patterns for just about any car and will even custom make one for you if your Z has the extended ZG nose or an exceptional rear spoiler/wing.My '63 R2 Avanti and '70 914-6 are snug in their Covercraft covers as I write this.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29945-car-cover-recommendations/#findComment-266128 Share on other sites

November 12, 200816 yr comment_266170 I purchase a fitted Wolf Noah Car Cover for my 240z and am very happy with it. It was on the pricey side ~100 but so far I have been very happy with it. It has a great fitted shape with pockets for the mirrors and is easy to take on and off <1min. I use it all the time (provided the car is clean do not want to scratch it up). I would definitely recommend a cover especially since like me I must park it outside since I only have a carport. I think I used google shopping to shop around for the best deal. November 12, 200816 yr comment_266215 I would agree with you ToXIc I am currently trying to find a place with one myself.Z Good 1 I would take cleaning out the garage and storing the Z there over a car cover anyday! Perhaps paying the neighbourhood kids to help you clean out the garage would be a better way to spend the $$$. For reference I got my Noah for like $130 shipped to CA using google shopping.
