Does anyone know how registering a '74 240Z works in Maryland? Does the car have to be safety inspected or emissions tested? I've had a car as old as me and don't know how it works with the MVA. :classic: Thanks!

Have you tried a search on the MD-DMV? Maybe their website might have the info. I know the VA-DMV web-site is pathetic, to say the least. You end up going to the DMV or calling them since they don't post any useful info on the web-site.

I bought a parts car from a friend who lived in Bowie, maybe 10 years ago. The 76 at that time had to be emissions and safety inspected. It passed the emissions test OK, failed the safety test due to the rust monster, go figure. :ermm:

Your right around the corner from me... :+)

I am not sure about emissinos -- my 86 RX-7 seemed to never have to be inspected so I can only assume that there is a drop off point somewhere for emissions.

I have had to get my 93 Civic and my Navigator inspected for emissions twice...

I can try checking there web site but if it's anything like trying to call them...:dead: yup, yup...germantown is just up the road. I have had too many people tell me conflicting stories about the procedure for the car. Guess I'll need to take some time off from work... Thanks guys.

You can register your car w/o emissions -- you will definitely need safety though. If they require emissions you will get a notice to bring it in. You can get emissions done on a saturday too. In derwood there is a station -- across from where Robert's Oxygen and the metro station is...

Click here for our website: Maryland Z Club

It's $25 per year to join. As a member you get part and service discounts at various shops. Also, there is bunch of people with all kinds of Z knowledge. It helped me a lot when I joined. So checked the website out, see what we do. Let me know if you have any questions.

I know where the emissions is in derwood, there is also one about two blocks from me on Wooffield Rd by the airpark. Of course...I need to get it running first :classic: . I have also thought about joining the MD Z Car club...if you want your spouse to be a member it's $30, just yourself is $25. I missed the show in Laurel :( , had no way to get there. Hopefully the car will be running by May and I can go to the Import show up in Carlisle, PA. I am glad to know that I am not alone in MD., it makes me feel a little better...
