astock/Jim, you are greatly underestimating the value of clear, detailed pictures of this car. Remote buyers have ONLY the pictures to base the value of the car on... Without complete photo documentation prospective buyers have to price in a lot of risk... and lower their upper limits greatly. If you can't post the pictures on E-Bay, post them here.

If the Blue 71 with 66K miles is hitting the $14K mark already.. it will be interesting to see how the two finish at final bids.

I'm also watching the blue car - not because I want to buy it, but because other than the color, it's VERY similar to my red car. The odometers read within 30 miles of each other, both are rust-free, the blue one is probably two months earlier build, both have had one good quality repaint. Mine has a Spook on the front, the blue has sport mirrors. Even located in the same corner of the country. All in all, it's about a wash. So I figure it's a pretty good indicator of the current market value of my car. Depending on how it goes, I may need to adjust my insurance coverage.

If I remember correctly years and years ago I saw the green 240 from Wick Humbles book for sale at a car show for about $12,000.

Interesting, I posted about this before in another thread, but there was an ad for Wick Humble's car in the Fall 1996 issue of Zcar magazine for sale for $15K at the time. Was this after that? Do you recall where the car show was?

I'd like to thank you for the push to get more pictures of the Z on Ebay; I couldn't agree with you more. If you have any more advice it would be greatly appreciated. I had to add two more auctions,since I used up all 24 pictures with the car auction.Just click on : View seller's other items ,for more pictures. Very nice car, Jim (astock)! Carl's advice is worth its weight in gold, no question about it. Best of luck with your sale. Your car should create a lot of activity at the end. Really good specimens are few and somewhat far in between on eBay.

As for donations to the site, just under the top banner on the page there is a menu bar. Click on "members" for a drop down menu, and you'll see "donations". (I just spent about five minutes trying to locate that today myself!)

The show was in Chico, CA. It was probably a bit before that as I don't think I'd had my white Z for more than a couple of years when we wandered by the show. I think I got the white Z around '92. And was given a copy of his book by a local body shop that we were having some work done on a company truck. So it was pretty cool to see the car that I had read about.

I just pulled the automatic transmission out of my Z. I've got a real nice shift lever for whoever buys this car

"I got him now, I got him NOW! HEY BUD! YOU NEED A HOUSE TO GO WITH THAT DOOR KNOB!"

I emailed the seller, and he replied that he had the splash pan for the car. In the ad he states that something has discolored one side of the shift lever - for such a low miles car, that and the door panel wrinkling seems odd. Maybe it sat outside for some time?

As you can see in the attached picture of the 73 - this car did have the Dealer Emission Modifications completed. The mechanics marked different area's as various levels of the Modifications Plus Program was completed on each car. So this car could have had the splash pan installed by the Dealer.

Likewise we can look at the Fuse Box and see if the car has the Dealer Installed electric fuel pump wire/fuse holder, or if it had the Factory Installed items.

I doubt that the owner let the car sit outside -but I do not doubt it sat in a non-dehumidified, non-air conditioned garage.

Even with 6K miles, you can see that the thermo cycles and atmospher have taken their toll on the Yellow Cad. Plated parts. The braided hoses have also grayed with age.

So then the next question is: Should the new owner spend the time to detail the engine compartment, have the Yellow Cad. Plating restored, redye the braided hoses etc.... or leave them all as is?

I included a picture of a 78 engine compatment - from a car with less than 700 miles, that was stored properly in a dehumidified and air conditioned storage area, just as an exampe of how the Yellow Cad. parts etc. should look.
