CrossroadsZ Posted November 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2008 Does anyone know where I can find a vacuum dashpot for a 73. Mine is not holding vacuum and I can't find one anywhere. I have rebuilt my dizzy and that is the only part I can't get. I have a 77 dizzy I could install in the car but I don't have the E12-80 ignition module to make the conversion for it. Either item would get my car running again, properly. I have tried several junkyards and they either are bad parts or don't have them at all. Buying these parts out of a salvage yard is kinda scary anyway since they have been sitting around so long. Thanks for any info on these 2 items.... Arne Posted November 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2008 If your car is a manual transmission, you can get them new from MSA, as shown in the attached screenshot from the CD version of their catalog. And since MSA has them new, I'm fairly certain that they must be available other places as well.
CrossroadsZ Posted November 20, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted November 20, 2008 That was the first place I called. They said they were no longer available. I have searched the internet but haven't been able to find one anywhere. Thanks
Nazgul280 Posted November 24, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 24, 2008 Have you tried an autoparts store....they may offer rebuilt ones?? I found some aftermarket Mallory distributors with the vacuum advance, but they were pricey- over $500 (Black Dragon, page 44 online). There must be someone here who has done a restoration recently and tackled the same problem.Have you tried the guys at ZParts.com in AZ?Some of these parts are getting very hard to find new, especially with rubber components. geoyam Posted November 24, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 24, 2008 (edited) Your post doesn't say if you need a vacuum advance for a manual or automatic transmission. Kragen Auto has them brand new for an automatic on their online store, PartsAmerica.com for about $40 dollars. Doesn't look like they have then in your year for a manual transmission. Checking Nissan dealer parts finder, (parts# 22301-E4603) a vacuum advance for a manual transmission is showing still available for $30 dollars.
