My Car Won't Start

I have a 1975 280z and as i was driving down the road it just cut off. At first i thought i might have just run out of gas. It still wouldn't start after i added a couple gallons. Once i got it back to my house I checked the spark and gas. It has plenty of both but it only backfires. So the engine turns over but it will not start and it has not started since it has died. Anyone have any idea of what it could be?

Sometimes a fuel injected vehicle needs to have the key cycled a few times for the pump to prime. Usually the pump runs for a few seconds after the key advances past a certain point. You can hear it hum.

Running a fuel injection pump dry can damage it. Crud from the bottom of the tank isn't the best for it either. Try not to run it low/out. :)

Pull the plugs and check them. It's possible they are fouled from oil or a rich fuel condition. You could also use a timing light and see if the plugs are working. This would also help you figure out if the module etc was bad.

Ther are lots of posts on this site for 280Z starting/running issues. A quick search will yield faster results than waiting for people's posts. :)
