We just replaced all the carpet in my 78 280....i noticed while tappin on the hazzard swich (mounted on console) the signal lights begin to work and the dimmer switch is now working... Is this possible that all these components are linked in someway..

I was going to replace the dimmer switch for the lights and signals.. Now i dont know what to do.. Please help me..

The Hazzard switch is definately connected to the turn signals. The hazard switch makes the turn signals flash. If the hazard switch is weak or worn, this will effect the turn signals. Maybe just one of them or even all four corners.

The dimmer switch is ONLY on the dash lights circuit, which is connected to the parking light circuit. The dimmer has NOTHING to do with the rest of the parking light circuit. If the dimmer seams to effect the turn signals, then a related ground is the likely culprit.

A related ground is a ground wire that is used by more than one circuit.

Dave.

thanks again..does anyone know where to purchase a hazard switch?

There are two on ebay right now.

Zs-ondabrain is correct. I had a similar issue in one of my '78's and we traced it to a faulty hazard switch. The circuits are definitely connected. Switched it out and problem solved.

Good luck!

For best results at most Nissan dealers, you should get the club parts CD and look up the part number yourself to take to them. That way you aren't asking the parts guy who doesn't even know what a Datsun is to try to find your part. You'll find that a lot of parts are still available when you do it that way. Sometimes I have to wait a few days for a part to be shipped from Tennessee, but for you that should be quick.
