What does the pressure do if you press the accelerator? Be careful with that fuel pump inlet screen as there are no new replacements available.

Little confused. Nothing between the tank and the fuel pump that resembles a filter????

When I press the accelerator the pressure drops to about 28. Fuel pump inlet screen?

I have a small plastic valve on the other line but notheing on the tank to fuel pump line.

You'd have to remove the fuel pump to see the inlet screeen. Dropping fuel pressure as you accelerate indicates either a blockage in the lines (likely) or tank or a problem with the pressure regulator or pump (doubtful).

Is the screen in the pump inlet?? When I replaced the pump I put in a new damper and regulator. I disconnected all the fuel lines and blew them through. I also drained the tank again (third time) through cheese cloth. The tank was full. There was not a speck of dirt or rust.disconnected the fuel rail again, alls clear. the vapor lines the same. I get a hesitation at the start so I still think the timing is not right. I am going to check that today. I guess I should stick with the fuel?? This sucks,

The screen is in the pump inlet. The tank is baffled. Larger particles may not come out when you drain it.

Exactly. I'm not saying don't check and test other things but I'm still willing to bet that the biggest cause of your Z's problems is due to a fuel flow restriction from crud in the system from sitting. What your describing are the classic symptoms.

Nobody really wants to drain the tank, pull it, and have it proffesionslly cleaned, or replace it, but I'm afraid it's the only way to solve the problems caused by sitting for long periods of time with old gasoline in it. I went through the same thing back in 1997 when I bought my 78. It had sat for four years. Ironically, when I bought my 810, it had also sat for nearly 4 years but it didn't have the prolblem because the previous owner started it once a week and drove it around the block once a month.

... Verify that the flap is moving freely in the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor.

About 18 years ago, my 78 had one get damaged from a backfire. I don't recall all the symptoms but replacing the MAF fixed it.

Considering all that has been tried and replace, I would check the MAF before taking it apart more. Borrow one if you must to verify it.

Well, I guess I might as well come out with it:embarrass: the Freaking wire harness plug was loose under the Air flow meter. Running smoooooth.
