If I recall correctly, the interval on my '71 & '72 called for adjustment of clearance every 6,000 miles. (I do it every spring just to keep in touch with the girl.)

(edit) Ooops... Mike B beat me to it...

The 280Z owners manual says to do the first adjustment at 1000 miles and every 12 months or 15000 miles thereafter. Keep in mind that this is for a new car so you can disreagard the first adjustment.:)

Intake-.25mm(.0010") Exhaust .30mm(.0012")-Hot.

Would the 1000 miles adjustment apply also to a rebuild engine?
IMO, yes. Assuming it was a true rebuild with a valve job. In fact, on a rebuild I might do my first check at 500 miles, and then again at 1000.
