JonnyRock Posted January 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2009 No info other than these pictures from an earlier thread. This lot of Z's has come up many times but I don't think anything is said about the Pantera Z.
Walter Moore Posted January 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 2, 2009 I think that a rear hatch like that would make me (more) claustrophobic.
260zCaliCar Posted January 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2009 I am actually very familiar with that picture and in fact I have been there a couple of times. The car with the Pantera rear hatch was sold some time ago, I asked the guy and he really didn't know where the hatch came from since it was on the car when he got it. Most of the cars in that picture are gone now. The guy that owns the property went through a z car collection period but doesn't want them anymore. He has one interesting shell which has been sitting outside for years that he is selling for a few thousand dollars... It is a 1969 240z with a VIN that is something like 00045 (it was a few months ago so I might be off slightly, but within 10). I actually saw it with my own eyes. It's real. If I go back over there to pick some more parts, is anyone interested in a picture of it? It's truly nothing more than a very dirty shell (but no rust since it's in California). It would be one heck of a project, but an amazing item to have when completed.
Mr Camouflage Posted January 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 2, 2009 Apart from being ugly, what else do you want to know?

sblake01 Posted January 2, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, that just kills the lines of the car. To each his own. Edited January 2, 2009 by sblake01

zcarmann Posted January 2, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted January 2, 2009 I'll go with 2 each his own, once its changed (cut ) then there is no going back so then its anything goes. Living in back-water Fla near Red Neck Rd I like to stand out or like to have them ask me "Duh what is that there car anyway"
hls30.com Posted January 2, 2009 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2009 ...So you are the one who bought the Catipillar yellow 280zx powered snow plow several years ago! Standing out is not aways a good thing! Will
Carl Beck Posted January 3, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 3, 2009 That "modification" would greatly reduce the volume of air in the passenger's cabin needing cooling, and thus greatly increase the effectiveness of A/C in a 240Z. It would also provide storage space more out of sight, although for smaller items. Not something I'd want, but it might have had a small market when produced decades ago.FWIW,Carl B.
