Hi guys,

i am afraid i am faced with a really tough descision.. i just bought a 1972 240Z (yes.. Z.. not K :)). considering the prices 240Z's fetch here in OZ, i think i managed to grab a huge bargain!!

My problem is, that i need to make some room and concentrate on one project at a time.. i can only work on my RB26 240K, and i know that realistically.. if i have a Z waiting in the wings.. that will be the next project.. so i am just not realistically going to get to restore my 240K GT any time soon (and it would be a shame to leave it sitting out in a field for the next 8+ years)

So i am faced with selling here.. tuff, because i know how rare the GT is, and i really had high hopes of restoring it to it's original glory.

so.. if you anyone is interested in taking it on and buying it from me, pm me!

This is a real 01/73 240K GT (as per compliance plate.. not GL) with very low build number (280!), it was bought as a shell, and then i bought another 240K coupe to make up the rest of the parts.. basically i am selling the GT with the majority of parts that you will need (i can't be sure they are all there though).. it comes with a 2.4L engine (not original, but ran in the last car), 5 speed gearbox along with what is meant to be a GT intake manifold, and a 4 speed manual (as the GT's came in 4 sp).. the car is rolling, and handbrake works ,but is not drivable so you will need a trailer

it comes with all Glass, most trim (i only say most as i am not 100% sure.. there are doubles of some though from my parts car), good seats (front and rear), a couple of centre consoles, newly covered dash, A/C unit in the car (do not have the engine side of it though), i have some replica GT badges from ebay, though the door cards are a little abused though and it needs carpet

body looks pretty straight, but there is rust in the usual places, and some in the boot

i am after AU$4000 for it, as is.. if it doesn't sell for that, i will hang on to it, and put it away for a rainy day :)

i will get some pics hopefully tomorrow

ok how about only 2 that ive seen at shows. that originate from australia. actually i can think of 4, including yours convertible man, and this gt coupe round the corner from me. got to go see that guy,

And soopakarr's seams nice, but not what i would call show stoping without the bonnet up, but maybe ive only seen poor photos

But honestly maybe its because i was in the ndsoc for a few years and all we would see at show and shines were 240/260z's maybe ive been over exsposed and am now desensitized, kinda like watching 2 much porn.

yeah, i agree.. 240k's are rarer than Z's now.. i have only twice seen a 240k on the road in the past 5 years.. both sedans (and one Jim's!).. seen plenty of 260z's

i am told that the 240z is rare though (outside of america), which is why i grabbed it (and because i love the low sports look).. i am just glad to have the chance to own both cars at the same time! mind you i would give the Z up in a heartbeat for a C10 coupe! :D

Here's a good site for 'Z's , if you haven't come across it before.

hehe, of course i am quite familiar with hybridz.. some great RB swap information there (and partly why i like Z's so much :))

i am still heavily considering either another RB26 in the Z, or go for a stroked 3.1L L28 with TWM EFI throttle bodies and a megasquirt or something.. but once it all adds up you square in RB26 territory (in price, not power :( ) - plus i kind of know what to expect with an RB swap.. i know nothing about stroking L28's but i like the thought of an NA induction roar

I saw a 240K coupe at Bunnings last weekend. Though about hanging around and waiting for the owner to come back, so I could talk him into selling it to me, but I have nowhere to put it.

That one and one I saw broken down on the side of the road 6 years ago are the only 2 seater 240K's i've seen on the road over here (and mine of course).

  • 4 weeks later...
Craig, saw a neat silver 240K coupe cruising around fremantle last week

there is also one with rb20det for sale for 20k in willetton which i think is a coupe as well (well i hope it would be for 20K!)

That's the guy that had the 240 or 260 for sale for around the same price right? I cant remember his name.
