Posted January 12, 200916 yr comment_270990 Can someone fill me in on the stock offset for a 70 240Z? Does it stay the same through out the years for all 240's/260's/280's?Also how low/aggressive of a offset can you go with without any type of fender modification? January 13, 200916 yr comment_271046 For a 5 and 6 inch rim you can have a 1/2 inch offset, for a 7 its zero. Anything after that is all aftermarket. Generally speaking you can run up to about a 10mm offset on 16 17 18 inch rims. However you have to take into consideration your suspention and tire series. You look new to the website so going back to basics go to Zcarmotorsports.com they have a decent inventory or rims and can give you an idea of tire rim variations. I am running 17 with 45 series with the car lowered 2 inches and I still have room to go lower Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30496-offset/#findComment-271046 Share on other sites
January 14, 200916 yr Author comment_271103 Well, Im new to the site but Im generally no noob to wheels. I am very inspired by the VIP scene. Currently I have 19x8.5 on my LS with a offset of +38 and I just put my adjustable coil overs on so Im doing that with a tucked 235/35/19 and I have room to grow. Now when I purchase my Z which is hopefully soon I plan on maybe doing a staggered set up. I want a general idea of stock configurations for when I pull the fenders or fab up some fender blisters cause I really wanna press a 10"wide rear with a very low offset.Probably wont go any bigger than 17 and would like to tuck tire and let the rim sit flush with the fenders but I want some meat on the rubber this time around.Im buying a Z in poor condition so I have a good project car and chances are the wheel configuration wont be that of stock so I kinda just want to know. Also, can the 4 lug hubs be swapped for the later models 5 lug hubs? Thanks! January 15, 200916 yr comment_271201 You can do all this but unfortunatly there is no formula. The only way is to start with the fender flares, and get out the measuring tape. After that you can go custom made rims or billet custom made adapters/spacers to go with the rim you decided to go with. Or you u can copy someone else taking into consideration what they have done. Sorry, for the lack of info. I went through the same issues and I think a lot of guys do. My advise to you is get the flares on the car, find the rims you want, and do adapters to make up the difference in measusred space. There just isn't a lot of rims out there for these cars and suprisingly lots of guys go for the old school look with 15/16. I played it safe and went 17/7 with 225/45/17 from motorsport.
