Posted January 13, 200916 yr comment_271060 I recently purchased a book on how to tune and rebuild SU's as good light reading, and I ran into a problem. It covers all manner of SU carbs. HS, HD, HS2, HS8. I am pretty sure I do not have the later, but after I get my carbs back from Z therapy, I would like to know which chapters to follow. I have a stock 71 240Z. It has an E46 manifold for what its worth. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30504-su-carb-question/ Share on other sites
January 13, 200916 yr comment_271061 Are you sure those aren't the original British SU carbs? Our carbs were manufactured under license by Hitachi. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30504-su-carb-question/#findComment-271061 Share on other sites
January 13, 200916 yr comment_271062 Those H series carbs are in fact designations for the SU SU's. Our Hitachi carbs are equivalent of the HS series. HS6 is the comparable to the 46mm Z and 2liter roadster carbs. With your order will come the JUST SU's DVD which I can guarantee will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about these carbs. I will testify that his statement is accurate, at least in my case. But I finally understand how they operate, which had been a mystery to me for decades.
