January 17, 200916 yr comment_271378 Can't help with the guage question but if you want to return it to original, then that section needs double thinkness. But to make sure of the guage, simply measure the existing sheet. The hardest part is to get that inner frame rail rust free. We have put in 19mm holes so we can get rust proofing in there in the future as the frame is prone to rust. Here are a couple of photos given to me by a club member when I replaced the same section plus pic's of mine. hls30dside.bmp measurements.bmp Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30535-what-gauge-steel/#findComment-271378 Share on other sites
January 18, 200916 yr comment_271406 When I did the repair the picture came from I used 16 ga. and doubled it up to match the original configuration. I did not want to collapse that part of the frame if I ever hit something with the front suspension. The torsion rods connect just in front of that repair.
