240zDailyDriver Posted January 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2009 Alright so I just got these louvers for my 240z... and it didn't come with the hardware... I was wondering if anyone had similar louvers... and if so could you maybe take pictures of the hardware? Thanks! Nick
DeesZ Posted January 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2009 I think a few more pictures are needed, esp where the hardware is supposed to be.... show us where what you have is supposed to mate up with the 'missing' parts.
sblake01 Posted January 20, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2009 There are different types of rear window louvers and I',m sure that mine would use different hardware than yours but I can tell you that the side window louvers just stick on to the trim with double sided trim tape. I personally don't care for those...had a set given to me and I gave them to someone else.
hls30.com Posted January 20, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) The quarter window louvers mount one of two ways-emblem tape, or install into the glass seal. The rear louvers should have a set of deadbolt slide locks that either mount with sheet metal screws to the hatch lid, or if they are a later version, to a fitted piece of black anodized aluminum sheet that tucks under the lower window seal in the two lower corners.I have a set of the deadbolts, that I will hunt and post a picture of for you.Have a look at the lower corners of the hatch louvers, there should be one 1/4" hole on each side. 240zDailyDriver Posted January 20, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted January 20, 2009 Well thank you for the pictures, Will! The louvers do indeed have the holes at the bottom. Now would those happen to be extra parts that you might be willing to part with? I would surely buy them from you if so!
mgood Posted January 20, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 20, 2009 You can look at me car (look in by name "click Here"), I have the rear loovers, I have a section called closeups, look about 1/2 way down. I would turn the bottom latch around, I think I mounted mine wrong, but they work.
hls30.com Posted January 20, 2009 Share #8 Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) Well thank you for the pictures, Will! The louvers do indeed have the holes at the bottom. Now would those happen to be extra parts that you might be willing to part with? I would surely buy them from you if so! unfortunately they are a part of the Black Pearl pieces I have collected, so they aren't for sale, but I will keep an eye out for you. I do have parts cars that have louvers-or did at one time, so next time I am at the farm, I'll have a look! Will Mgood, your louvers look bigger than the window-the sets I have are all the same size as the Weatherstrip-meaning they don't cover hardly any of the hatch sheetmetal-only at the top(for the hinges. I don't have them and a hatch handy to illustrate, but they seem to fit the opening much closer than yours. If I put the latches to the underside of the louver, they would have to be mounted on a piece of sheet metal and it would be between the weatherstrip and the glass. mgood Posted January 20, 2009 Share #9 Posted January 20, 2009 Will, yes my louvers are bigger than the window and the rubber strip by about 1 inch on all 4 sides. I just notices today in this thread that I could have reversed the lower hinges. See picture for the size of the louvers.

Duffman Posted January 29, 2009 Share #12 Posted January 29, 2009 Question: is there a way to convert louvers from the bolt on version to the slip under the window seal type? I have a friend that will give me a set of louvers but they require bolting on to the car, which I do not want to do.Any thoughts?
