Posted January 26, 200916 yr comment_272099 I just picked up a 1972 240z last week, and it needs some work. The dash has major cracks, of course, and the glove box cover is broken in half. I picked up a replacement dash, with only minor cracks, and an intact glove box. So far, this site has helped a lot guide me through some of the steps, so thanks for the thorough posts. If anyone out there wants to share info about dash replacement ... I am sure I could use the help. Thanks. January 27, 200916 yr comment_272200 Welcome, There are a few guys from San Diego on this forum. Give the z club of San Diego a try. The club meets the first Tuesday of every month. As far as the dash goes it's pretty straight forward job. I use sandwich baggies to keep track of nuts and bolts use a sharpie on the bags and label as you go. the junk yards in San Diego still have a consistant supply of z cars however the turnover at ecology has slowed way down the past year. Also a great place for all your nut and bolt needs is a company called Marshalls Hardware. On Craiglists check out a guy thats calls himself zman he's in La Mesa and has a lot of decent z parts for sale all the time. have fun with the z rex Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30604-hello-from-san-diego/#findComment-272200 Share on other sites
January 27, 200916 yr comment_272227 Liam in La Mesa (the zman) does have a nice selection of parts ready to sell. He is a good guy and I would buy from him anytime. Stop by the club meeting on Feb 3rd so we can see what you got. January 27, 200916 yr comment_272232 Replacing one cracked dash with another doesn't seem very productive to me. I'd get a full dash cover to recover the dash. Properly installed the full dash covers are hard to tell from the original dash...Just a thought...Carl B.
