Oh yeah this is how I spend my freetime, Rock band 2 for the 360, I have downloaded all tracks off of Rock band 1 onto my console and play them with RB2, not to mention several downloaded ones off xbox live. Me and my roomates have a band in RB2 ("The Grand Quickies", I play the guitar or sing, and my 2 roomates play the drums and bass) we ROCK deep into the night.

Been a Strat fanatic since the mid '70s after I pawned my '66 SG to buy beer for a camping trip.:stupid: I disturb the peace and rattle the glass on a daily basis, but could never make the transition to Guitar Hero or Rock Band. It's a blast watching the kids & grandkids playing these games though.:D

And that's almost the whole idea. I bought it for the kids. But they LOVE to Jam with their Dad. It's a bonding thing and it keeps the kids busy on those crappy Washington days when the homework and housework is done.

They have a choice though, Challenge dad, or clean their rooms... Hehehe

That's ok Tom, we'll play with ourselves, you know what that's like, right?

Geezer, I know I'm not telling you anthing you don't already know, but do you know what the value of the Gibson '66 SG would be worth today!! The last Strat that I had is screwed up on the wall in by billards room along with old concert pictures from the '70s,.... framed - REO Speedwagon, Styx, Mott the Hoople, Kiss, Uriah Heep..............Areosmith has made more money off the Guitar Hero licensing that they have off their past two albums............amazing, oh yea, that was an Areosmith song!!

Exactly - As I mentioned, I play a bunch of instruments, few things would make me happier than to see my kids follow in my footsteps. Yet no matter how much I jam or play for them, they aren't interested. I think the reason is they can't interact with me. They know tunes from the Beatles and The Beach Boys, and I can play those and the Jonas Brothers (one of their faves), but there's no desire for them to sing or tap their feet.

With Rock Band, they CAN interact. The drum part of the game is literally like a teacher - you can learn to play on a basic level with it. The whole experience of "jamming" with friends and family has now got them asking for real instruments...to me, it's almost educational and a fantastic tool to get them more into music.

Sounds cool! I couldn't hang any of my memorabilia up, I'd be too tempted to play it!

Yes, but not much different than looking back at all the great cars I used to own as well. Some people are dumbfounded when they come to realize that some of these guitars are worth more than the new car they just bought.

I know I'm getting off topic a little now but I guess all of you know it is a sad day for Rock&Roll. :disappoin

The keyboardist for Lynard Skynyard died yesterday from a heart attack he was 56. I saw them before the plane crash and to me they were never the same afterwards. I did like Rossington/Collins Band with the female lead singer - great R&B with soul and a touch of Skynard but they only released one album (you can tell I'm old......hell, I still call them albums) . Anyway, Mr. Billy Powell, thanks for the memories and the music.

Rest In Peace............you are a true rocker!!

RIP Billy

Skynyrd is my alltime favorite band. I was too young to ever see the original band in concert, but I've seen the current band four times. But I agree with you, they could never be the real Skynyrd without Ronnie and Allen- I have some DVDs of the original band in concert, and they were incredible. Man, could Allen play that Gibson Firebird! Sad to say, I think Gary Rossington is the only surviving original member.

Just in case any of you have not ever heard the Rossington Collins Band - this band was formed after the Skynyard crash with the surviving members. Here is a clip from YouTube.................sorry for highjacking this thread but we are staying in the music venue with Rock&Roll. By the way Gary Rossington is still alive and Rock'n.

RIP Billy
