Posted February 3, 200916 yr comment_273070 Could someone show me a picture of the door jam in a 240z? The doors on my 240z are missing the dove tails, which I just ordered, but I think it might be missing the piece that goes near the door latch. Where is the spring loaded piece supposed to go? February 3, 200916 yr comment_273074 The springy thingy attaches to the latch keeper via the two machines screws. The dove tail attaches to the door and strikes against the springy thingy to align the latch and striker. That's what you are missing. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30712-240z-door-hardware/#findComment-273074 Share on other sites
February 3, 200916 yr Author comment_273075 Does anyone have a picture? I'm still not clear on how exactly the springy thing attaches to the striker. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30712-240z-door-hardware/#findComment-273075 Share on other sites

February 4, 200916 yr comment_273088 1. Put the striker on with the top screw only. 2. Slip the spacer behind the striker. 3. Line the springy thingy up on top of the lower two holes of the striker. 4. Insert the two lower screws and tighten. You'll notice that the springy thingy has a spacer spot welded on the back. February 4, 200916 yr Author comment_273094 Oh okay I understand exactly where it goes now. I want to buy all new door hardware for the door jams, but I can only find the striker brand new. The spring piece and the flat piece that goes underneath are nowhere to be found. Does anyone know if this door hardware is still available anywhere? February 4, 200916 yr comment_273097 Dove tails seem to be available:http://cgi.ebay.com/Datsun-Door-Dove-Tail-Set-240Z-280Z-70-76-NOS-NEW_W0QQitemZ250359680149QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item250359680149&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A3%7C294%3A50But I would really check with Nissan first because if you can get them there, you'll save some cash. If you have the part numbers for the other things check with nissan also. I dont have my parts fiche on this pc, or I'd check the numbers for you. February 4, 200916 yr comment_273098 I just bought a dovetail not that long ago from Courtesy Nissan. I'd assume they're still available. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30712-240z-door-hardware/#findComment-273098 Share on other sites
