Could someone show me a picture of the door jam in a 240z? The doors on my 240z are missing the dove tails, which I just ordered, but I think it might be missing the piece that goes near the door latch. Where is the spring loaded piece supposed to go?

The springy thingy attaches to the latch keeper via the two machines screws.

The dove tail attaches to the door and strikes against the springy thingy to align the latch and striker. That's what you are missing.

1. Put the striker on with the top screw only.

2. Slip the spacer behind the striker.

3. Line the springy thingy up on top of the lower two holes of the striker.

4. Insert the two lower screws and tighten.

You'll notice that the springy thingy has a spacer spot welded on the back.

Oh okay I understand exactly where it goes now. I want to buy all new door hardware for the door jams, but I can only find the striker brand new. The spring piece and the flat piece that goes underneath are nowhere to be found. Does anyone know if this door hardware is still available anywhere?

Dove tails seem to be available:

But I would really check with Nissan first because if you can get them there, you'll save some cash. If you have the part numbers for the other things check with nissan also.

I dont have my parts fiche on this pc, or I'd check the numbers for you.
