Battery Cover

Where can I find an original battery? Yuasa brand 50 amp.

Don't they have reproduction vintage battery cases for Ford and other US cars? Someone should make a reproduction Yuasa plastic case (just sides and bottom) that you could slip an off the shelf battery into. I guess just going with the all black case with stickers removed is the best option for now.

The above mentioned 'esprist' is a member here. sort of. He was the guy who came on basically to badmouth Pierre. I'd steer clear of him. He just might belong in the 'bad ebayer' thread. I won't buy from him.

ANyone who does not check any ebay part for dealer availability should-more often that not the NOS and Rare parts are not...they are simply fraudulently advertised as being that way.

The Club Cd will give you part numbers, what you do with them is up to you...

My favorite is the so-called 'NOS' blue Nissan oil filters that sell on eBay for like $15 or more, plus shipping. My dealer keeps them on the shelf (no shipping) and sells them to me for less than $6 each with my club discount.

Back on topic - I called up my dealer and had him order the two numbers visible in Randy's first post. He tells me today that the order was "held" (his words) due to the parts being "out of production". He's worked in Nissan parts since before the 240Z was released, and his comment to me was that status and reasons aren't the final word, and that he was going to leave the order active for a while. He said that sometimes "held" "out of production" items just magically show up after a few weeks. We'll see.

Hopefully you didn't pay the $175 that ebay seller esprist is selling these for now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Battery-top-cover-lid-NOS-Rare_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem380101802886QQitemZ380101802886QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

He has turned into the new reddat, reselling items still available new from the dealer. He started selling coils at about $250, but they are now down to around $190 I think. The coils are still available from the dealer for less than $100 I believe, so I am sure that is where he is getting the battery covers too.

Edit: Looks like Courtesy has the two battery cover parts listed for $14.90 and $6.73 for a total of $21.63(if they are still in stock). A little less than the $175 esprist is trying to sell them for.

Hello everyone. I guess some people here get very agressive interms of talking about people on ebay. For the battery cover set up, I paid $155(US) to a shop in Japan and bought 5 of these covers(old stock, see the parts labels) Plus Express shipping and custom/duty. I bought one for my car and another one for the member here. It is also NLA in Japan. I bought few extra as a part of the deal. (I put rest of 3 on a couple of website including Ebay) Ignition coil was on national back order when I called Courtesy, and then, I found 3 in Japan. I paid 22000Yen (About $220US) Plus freight.

I am not buyig stuff from Courtesy, MSA, or Black Dragon and re-selling them like other guys mentioned here. Fortunately, I am not making my living out of selling stuff on Ebay. I normally buy few extra in case I cannot get another one down the road. I own an exporting bisiness here and Tokyo. I am not a liar, flaud, or scam. I really think we should use this website to talk about fun stuff and exchange info. It seems that some members enjoy getting on rumors. If the fact is not clear, we should be respectibale to each other.

I understand some people have problem with the people selling stuff directly from other venders. I am wrinting this for clearfication purpose only. NOT wanting to put down anyone, so please understand.

Thank you.

Hi Esprist,

I guess this is mostly directed at me, since you are quoting me above your comments. I am glad you posted, so that we can hear your side. Like it or not, parts and cars sold on eBay are often discussed here. If you read my posts above you will see that I did indicate I checked with Courtesy and the battery covers were now NLA. As I mentioned, my only compliant is when people are not truthful in their ads and describe parts that are still available from Nissan with comments like "probably the last one in US and Japan", "This part has been back ordered nationally for last 5 years by Nissan USA and Japan", or "Super Rare!". Yes, I initially though that the battery covers were still available for two reasons. First, you are STILL selling coils on eBay I know for a fact were available from Nissan when you started selling them last fall. A couple of weeks after you started listing them for around $250 each, I bought two from Courtesy Nissan using the part number shown in your ad (#22433-U3110). I paid $73.87 each for them on Nov 3, 2008. I will call Courtesy tomorrow to see if they are still available now. Your last auction for one of these coils ended on Feb 25, 2009, with no takers for your BIN price of $175 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-Ignition-Coil-260Z-NOS-Super-Rare_W0QQitemZ110353656622QQihZ001QQcategoryZ33615QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. You also posted these in our classified section shortly after you started selling them on eBay, but after I posted a comment below your ad that they were still available from Nissan, you just removed your ad from the classifieds (which also removed my comment), and continued to sell them on eBay with the remarks I quoted above. Did you still think these coils were "super rare" or "probably the last one in US and Japan" after my response to your classified ad? Did you follow-up to check? The second reason I thought the battery covers might still be available is I thought I remembered Banzai Motorworks (zzxdatsun.com) also selling them. When I checked, it turned out that they just sell the vent covers (part BA-05) for $7.

I also agree that we should use this site to "talk about fun stuff and exchange info". I try to have fun and share things with others on here. Unless I am mistaken, you were the 2008 "Best of Show" winner at Motorsport Auto "Z-car West Coast Nationals". Maybe you could share some of your award winning Z-car knowledge with us. I haven't really seen you do that yet with your classified ads, or 12 posts since joining last May (warning about PierreZ, etc.).

Anyway, like you, I am only writing this for clarification purposes and not wanting to put you down. If I have misinterpreted something let me know. It would be great if you would share some of your Z knowledge or information with the rest of us.
