The hardest part to find

I don't know if it's me or I am just looking in the wrong place but I have checked every source and vendor for several years and I have not been able to locate an early throttle knob other than home made.I never give up on anything and the harder the task the more determined I am.I tried money being no object,But some people have parts they wouldn't part with for any price.I would like to try another route.I have 4 Zcars left that are still a lot of good stuff on plus a good stash of parts collected off a bunch of Z's over the years. They range from 12/70 to 7/72. I will trade ANY part I have that is not on a car that I drive for a great condition series 1 throttle knob. I drive the red one in my avator and an early 71 that has been modified for raising hell. All others are open game. For the sake of fairness using this forum and all of the help I have gotten from this great club I will throw in a 150 dollar donation to the club.I hope using this forum does not offend anyone but a lot of you understand some times to get a part you want you will do just about anything.

I have come across a few early throttle assemblies with the rounded knobs, but was never willing to pay what the sellers believe they are worth. I have given up on the search for one, because my Z started life without one and it is unlikely I will ever own an early Z that did come with one but has it missing. There have been a few early throttle assemblies on Ebay in the past year or so, with one going at a very reasonable price. I was watching it, but did not bid. You are right about people sitting on these in their stash and not willing to part with them. They are just like the other hard to find parts, if you are patient, one will turn up sooner or later. I think this thread may put you in touch with a few leads. Good Luck

I feel your pain!

I looked for a Rally clock for several years before I ran across a fFairlady Dash on ebay, that happened to have on in it! Poor pictures, but no mistaking the two knobs!

I drove to Charlotte on my way to Asheville to pick up the $40 dash with the clock in it.

I am looking for the same knob to duplicate...

Maybe someone will bring one to Amelia and I can make a mold there!

So,

if you can reproduce them, or if the guy that reproduce them before has any left, I would be interested in picking up either a set or just the throttle, what ever is available.

Keep us posted and thanks for all your efforts.

The guy that has made them in the past got back to me and said he would probably be able to make some more. It sounds like he needs to revise his mold a little, but that shouldn't take too long. I'll let you know when I hear more.
