Arne Posted February 12, 2009 Share #26 Posted February 12, 2009 Good call Chris. I found this site with choke knobs but I don't see a throttle knob:http://www.new-datsun-parts.com/datsun-240Z-parts-interior2.htmlBut none of those are the early rounded knob style, even for the choke knob itself, let alone the throttle knob. adamr Posted February 12, 2009 Share #27 Posted February 12, 2009 I have a friend here who sold me the set-choke and hand throttle with cables. I am almost certain that he has another. Give me a few days and I will try to get a hold of him.-Adam
adamr Posted February 12, 2009 Share #28 Posted February 12, 2009 I talked to my buddy this AM, and he said that shortly after selling me the one I have, he sold his other set for over $250 on ebay. onuthin Posted February 12, 2009 Author Share #29 Posted February 12, 2009 Thanks Adam and everyone for your help but still no knob.I left a message with Zedsaver but haven't heard from him yet.I have several complete units with handles and cables just no throttle knob.I don't go on the other sites so I don't know what luck I would have there.I know some other sites cater to modifying thier Z's maybe they could use E-31 heads or a set of weber carbs if they are not going back original.I will keep looking and thanks for the help. Mike B Posted February 12, 2009 Share #30 Posted February 12, 2009 Ronnie, as I noted earlier, I have been in contact with the guy that made reproductions of these before (same ones sold by Zedddsaver) and he should have another knob ready soon. I think Will will also be making reproductions fairly soon.-Mike
hls30.com Posted February 12, 2009 Share #31 Posted February 12, 2009 In all likelyhood I will have a borrowed set of knobs by the middle of next week, and a set of molds shortly there after!I will order the casting supplies as soon as the knobs arrive, and have a set or two hopefully by the end of next week. I will also be pouring some of my other molds too, so if everything goes well, there should be several rare parts available. Will

esprist Posted February 13, 2009 Share #34 Posted February 13, 2009 I don't know if it's me or I am just looking in the wrong place but I have checked every source and vendor for several years and I have not been able to locate an early throttle knob other than home made.I never give up on anything and the harder the task the more determined I am.I tried money being no object,But some people have parts they wouldn't part with for any price.I would like to try another route.I have 4 Zcars left that are still a lot of good stuff on plus a good stash of parts collected off a bunch of Z's over the years. They range from 12/70 to 7/72. I will trade ANY part I have that is not on a car that I drive for a great condition series 1 throttle knob. I drive the red one in my avator and an early 71 that has been modified for raising hell. All others are open game. For the sake of fairness using this forum and all of the help I have gotten from this great club I will throw in a 150 dollar donation to the club.I hope using this forum does not offend anyone but a lot of you understand some times to get a part you want you will do just about anything.I can check with shops and z car club members in Japan if you like. Both new. The shop wants 5500 Yen each Plus shipping. I checked Nissan List price from Dealer, it was 2800 Yen back in 80's . But I do not know which shape it is. If you are interested, I can have him ship it over here right away for $20 by express. Or I can have him put in my next shipment (End of March or April) so you do not have to pay $20 freight. It is still cheaper than making a mold in my opinion. No obligation. At least you can still get a new one.Esprist
Mike B Posted February 26, 2009 Share #36 Posted February 26, 2009 And here is an update on the guy that made the reproductions last time. He said he was having trouble finding his mold and he may have to go back to the person he borrowed a throttle knob from to make a new one. It seems much less promissing now that he will have some made anytime soon. It sounds like Will is still on track to make some fairly soon though.-Mike
