Posted February 13, 200916 yr comment_274029 I've been working in New Orleans since november, and the whole time I was looking for a nice z to buy. About a month ago, I was going to a Walmart, and spotted about a '76 280z 2-seater in very good condition for sale. For the next 3 weeks, I kept putting off stopping and getting the phone #. Well, last week I went past the z, and couldn't beleive my eyes! Some ignorant S.O.FN.B's smashed out all the windows, and torched the whole car! Just My Luck! So much for that one! Those people deserve life in prison! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30808-barbequed-280z-anybody/ Share on other sites

February 13, 200916 yr comment_274062 It's sad what some people will do. I don't understand the growing disregard for other peoples stuff. You're from Windber! Last time I was there the bridge was washed out by the big flood in the '70s.... I flew rescue helicopter out of the Vo-Tech athletic field for about 3 weeks.... memories.... February 24, 200916 yr Author comment_275315 Yeah, I was only around three years old back then, but I can remember my dad carrying me and my sister through the swift water up to my grandma's house. At our house, which was one of the lowest in mine 35/36, the whole basement was submerged, and filled part of the living floor.P.S.: Your refinishing looks great, all of the parts look real good. February 24, 200916 yr comment_275330 I've got a neighbor down my road that has a '66 or '67 Camaro that has sat outside in the field for the past 15 - 20 years, just sitting and rusting, rusting and sitting. People have tried to buy it from him but he would rather let it sit and rust than to let somebody preserve it...........I just can't understand. Then again it could be the "hey, did you know I own a '66 Carmaro" kinda thing. I would at least have to tarp the ground where the car sits to keep all that evaperation off of it, something is better than nothing. Some people just do not make sence at all. February 24, 200916 yr comment_275331 There was a guy with a 71 sitting in his yard close to where I lived years ago. From what I could see it was decently solid and my Z had rust issues among other problems. I asked him what he wanted for it and got one of those wonderful "Make me an offer" answers. The fun was that no matter what I offered it wasn't enough and as the offer climbed he decided it was something that he wanted to hold onto. I thought I had it the one time I called and his wife answered. I figured when I told her I was calling about the car she'd give him the push to sell it. But no luck. I quit going past there since I'm guessing it is still there today, just with much more rust.Oh well, it only took me 16 more years to find my current Z. February 24, 200916 yr comment_275332 It would take a real talker to get me even remotely interested in a vehicle from the whole southern half of Louisiana. February 25, 200916 yr comment_275368 There was a brown 77 Z sitting down the road from me for about 3 years and I kept wondering to myself what was he going to do with that. I should stop one day and ask. I never did and one day about 3 and 1/2 years ago it was gone and a old beat up piece of crap truck was in it's place and is still there today. About 2 and 1/2 years ago a co worker was asking arround work if anybody was interested in a old Datsun that was in a garage at a house he bought from his neighbor. Weeks went by and he asked again then he said it was a 280z and it took another week or so untill curosity got the best of me. I stopped up to see it and that was all it took I bargined a deal to buy it and a Wave Runner for 500 dollars and sold the Wave Runner 2 weeks later for 700. It has 41,000 original miles and has not been on the road since 1987. Original miles was verified by condition of original factory tires and condition and wear of other original parts. It will be completed this spring. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30808-barbequed-280z-anybody/#findComment-275368 Share on other sites
