Posted February 16, 200916 yr comment_274413 I'm not having much luck researching this, but I looked at number 000379 the other day and I couldn't find the VIN ID Plate. Were the plates in the same place for all years, like on the door jam? The firewall was properly scribed but I wanted to see if the plate said 69' or 70'. thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30844-vin-id-plate/ Share on other sites
February 16, 200916 yr comment_274418 It should be in the door jamb and yes, it should say 69'. I believe.Right front strut tower, door jam and the firewall, near the brake booster.Go to http://Zhome.com and look at the register. You'll find that # 00374 has a production date of 11 / 69 And # 00387 also has a date of 11/69'Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30844-vin-id-plate/#findComment-274418 Share on other sites
February 16, 200916 yr Author comment_274422 Thanks Dave. I looked for rivet holes or screw holes and didn't see any sign of the ID plate. Were they glued on primarily, or is just mine that is riveted on? February 16, 200916 yr comment_274425 That's weird. but I'm not that familiar with the real old Z's (mostly 69's) mine is an 8/70. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30844-vin-id-plate/#findComment-274425 Share on other sites
February 16, 200916 yr comment_274426 Assuming you are talking about an HLS30U, the ID / date tag should be riveted to the driver door jamb. I would guess 379th to be a 12/69 car and the serial # should be five digits, not six. 00379? February 16, 200916 yr Author comment_274427 The car was repainted, so maybe the holes were filled after the ID badge was removed or fell off. The good news is that #379 will ride again-----eventually:) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30844-vin-id-plate/#findComment-274427 Share on other sites
February 16, 200916 yr Author comment_274429 I believe it was 5 digits, I think I just added a zero there. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30844-vin-id-plate/#findComment-274429 Share on other sites
