I feel ya!!! Look back and see my 73 project. Yes, I still have it and yes it's sitting as a shell in primer. A dream that will come true some day. But at the same time I wana drive one aswell. I had plans to bring the 73 back into the shop and start in on that again.

Then without even looking I came across this 72. After some thought I knew this car could be on the street and safe in no time. I had the motor from the 73 sitting on the stand along with the centerforce clutch and boxs of spare go fast parts. So it's just getting it togather and lined out. After that it's pulling lights, trim, bumpers, int, and glass and she will be rolling into the paint booth.

From there it's my driver.

My major goal for now is being done for the Branson MO Z-fest this year. So that gives me a couple of months for paint.

I understand building a show car and respect that 100%. But this car is for fun and putting miles on nothing more. Maybe some day I will take it down and do it from the ground up. But I have that sitting in my garage at this point. So......

The update for tonight......

I got the new motor @ the shop hanging on the lift in front of the car tonight. Mounted the flywheel/clutch and getting some other small things taken care of while it's outside the body. I am looking at dropping it in tomorrow afternoon after my new gasket set shows up. So no hot laps tonight. But I know she will be running this time tomorrow as long as the gaskets show up on time.

The new motor is in !!!!! Everything is in place tight and hooked up. Now I am dealing with the plugged up fuel tank :stupid: along with alittle elec. headache. I am not getting any power to my starter with the key. I can hear it click on the pass side inside the car. But thats as far as i have gotten with it. I can jump the starter and it cranks over fine. But nothing with the key. So once I can get a friend over for testing I am done for the night. But happy ta say the new motor is installed and ready.

Photo's and updates tomorrow.

Nice find on the Z . I wanted to show you what b-c safari gold looks like in my spare tire tub . My car is a feb 71 beauty that I am proudly working on daily . Except for some of the floorpan and the front left frame rail , which I have already repaired , my car was a similar kind of find . The po had originally wanted over 5-g , but people were hesitant . I drove her home in turn key condition for 2800$ . I feel I did well also !

And to those wondering , yes that is the original spare with maybe a little Japanese air still left in her ! I to will live at the wheel in a few more months down the road .

see ya

Chris

Thanks chris, I am fond of that gold. Please do David. I know of a few real nice roads around here where we run our bikes. I cant wait for hitting them in the Z. Only thing is you may make me go scarab on this one. I have already had 2 offers of V-8's and the short turbo 350 trans. sitting under 10 foot from the car now.

But I cant let this Z motor just waste away plus it's in. The V8 project is the 73 so......

You just let me know when you would like ta come on over. I will buy you a beer or two and show you around our shop.

Yesterday I spent some time pulling trim and doing alittle body work. Then rolled it into the paint booth lastnight and shot her with a coat of flat black. Came back today and put the parts back on. Untill I can take more time on the body and make up my mind on color this will do.

Sorry about the PB photos. But I did load them on the site. Only they need aproved before I can use them.

Tomorrow I will be doing some wet sanding and working on the mounting of the sliders for the aftermarket seats. Still unsure if they will fit or not. But I am going to give them a try. I am looking to run the aftermarket seats in the car for now. Then have the stock seats redone and waiting for when I do the real paint.

More updates and photos tomorrow.
