Posted February 22, 200916 yr comment_275054 Ok back in november I thougt I might of had a blown head gasket and I still might but... I was thinking maybe the problem is in the fuel. The car is so hard to start and when it does run it hardly stays running. The car does push out a little white smoke but not tons. I looked at the oil and it looks fine. Have not drained the oil tho. Looked in the raditor, looks like there might be some small beads of oil in the coolant but not totally positive. This all started when the car would just die while driving it. So what you all think?!? The car is a 76. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/30908-is-it-the-head-gasket-or-a-fuel-problem/ Share on other sites
February 22, 200916 yr comment_275057 Have you checked the condition of the connection at the temp sensor and/or the temp sensor itself? February 22, 200916 yr Author comment_275110 I have also replaced the old temp switch. The older one was not even wired in. I found a wire that had been cut so I just figured that must have been the wire so I wired the switch in. could if be that I wired the switch in wrong? February 24, 200916 yr Author comment_275261 I went outside where I have had the z covered all winter and tried to see if she would start. To my surprise she did! But still ran like crap! I uncovered her really fast then drove her in the garage then shut her off. There was gas leaking from the back at the fuel pump. Some old fuel lines needed replacing. Fixed them then started the car. The lines werent leaking. Problem sloved there. When I looked up there was fuel squirting out around the first fuel injector. All the lines for the injectors are new.Is this common when you have a blown head gasket or do I have some find of fuel problem? February 24, 200916 yr comment_275293 I've never known a head gasket problem to cause a fuel leak. I recall a thread by WingZro where he had the wrong gasket which was blocking his fuel injector ports but you haven't changed gaskets so that's not the case with yours. February 24, 200916 yr Author comment_275307 Im guessin the fuel is not burning so its just building pressure up in the fuel lines and finding the weakest point.
