Posted September 22, 200222 yr comment_16103 I was thinking about getting the Monza Exaust System for my 240 from victoria british. Are these kits worth the money. I know they look nice but i want to know how they sound. Right now i have a L28 with 6-1 headers that goes straight back to a flowmaster. Right now it sounds abnoxious and loud. I'm looking for a deeper and smoother tone. Any Suggestions?-Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3092-exaust-system-question/ Share on other sites
September 22, 200222 yr comment_16106 all you need is to add a resinator to your current system. That should quiet it down and give it a deeper tone. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3092-exaust-system-question/#findComment-16106 Share on other sites
September 23, 200222 yr Author comment_16125 I'm more in it for the looks because this flowmaster does not look right on the car. It looks awkward. I like the look of the monza set up but i want to know if i will lose performance and/or tone quality. They advertise the system to work well on stock cars but what about modified cars with headers? What kind of setups do you guys with modified Z's go with? Thanks for your advice Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3092-exaust-system-question/#findComment-16125 Share on other sites

September 27, 200222 yr comment_16352 I agree. My PO put on a 2 1/4" (or is it 2 1/2"? i forget) with a resonator under the driver's seat and the "Turbo Tip" muffler from either MSA or VB. Looks alot like the Monza, IIRC.Its deep & throaty, i really like it, though a couple hours at 4000rpm with the windows down makes you tired of it...HTH, Jeremiah Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3092-exaust-system-question/#findComment-16352 Share on other sites
September 28, 200222 yr comment_16381 I have purchased the VB exhast system with my hard earned dollars figuring to save by installing it myself. DON"T DO IT! After much cussin' and banged up hands, I had to give it up. It would not fit right. I finally caved-in to take it to a muffler shop to install it. After that the shop told me I wasted my money. It was easier and less costly to have him make a custom pipe to use with the kit muffler. He used aluminunized steel and welded the complete system (2 1/2 inch pipe). It came out excellent for fit. I ended up using only the header and muffler--threw the pipe in the trash. The sound is awesome though.for what it's worth.
