Looking to figure out what to use to stick the plastic to the door before putting on the door panel. I didn't want to just use silicone I was looking for something like the original black stuff that stays sticky forever. They still use it on cars today but what is it and where can I get some? Thanks

I was trying to think of the name of this stuff, too, the other day. A body shop gave me a couple of feet of a black, very sticky, rope calk. It stays soft and sticky forever and is perfect mounting the plastic sheets under door panels. I also used it for backing up the pins when mounting emblems as it has very strong holding power. I'll let you know when I remember a specific name for this calk material.

The term used around my auto shop is "Monkey Tape" and there are a few varieties. It's great for everything from the weather barrier you mentioned to sealing up bags for VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding).

We get it donated by the case load of both the black (medium sticky) and yellow (super sticky) variety. I'll try to remember to take a look tomorrow for a brand name.

I tried the weatherstrip adheasive and that is not the same it gets skinned over and doesn't stay sticky. Where can I get the monkey tape or rope calk? Thanks
