Hi guys...

At one time I remember a conversation about license plate frames. I can't find it!! Anyway, here's one of the sayings.

EDIT 1-27-2005: License plate frames were discontinued due to quality issues.

If you have any ideas, sayings, or just to change some of our existing ideas, please let me know!! Reply to this message.

They will be available shortly.

LOL...

hey! i'm sorry.. i'm a bit proud to be an 18 year old going to college for 4 years to be a commercial pilot. Ya get excited when you pay $40 and hour for an instructor and $75 an hour for aircraft rental.. and ya have over 60 hours :)

Boy oh boy.. it gets expensive.. gotta thank my parents.. and my old job which i actually saved nearly every penny

Here in New Hampshire, if any info is obscured by the plate frame you will be pulled over and ticketed for obscureing plate.

...Same for Texas, though I've never even heard of anyone actually getting a ticket for covering the license plate. And since the plates stay with the car when you sell/abandon it, a driver could always argue that the license plate frame came with the car.

Hi Brandy:

That argument would not cut it in CA. The current owner of a vehicle is responsible for ensuring that everything on the car is legal. I tried that excuse in court when I got ticketed for not having a front license plate back in the early 80's. They laughed at me. :(

...sigh...I know. I'm originally from New York (G*d forbid you sell your car and don't retire your plates within 12 hours), lived in NH (very true about covering the plate), then Virginia (one tiny spot of rust and your car won't pass inspection, let alone be allowed to keep your plates)......and to make matters even more confusing, we live in southmost Texas (also known as north MX), so you can literally make up your very own license plate out of some cardboard and duct tape and claim you're visiting from across the border. I was actually uncomfortable when I bought our '95 4Runner here in TX and didn't have to spend a day at DPS (DMV) to get new plates; I really thought that the dealer was trying to get rid of a hot car.

License plates being legible are iffy, and I've seen cars being driven around with inspection stickers that are missing, scratched over registration stickers, and (now since my husband is temporarily incapacitated so we have handicapped badges on our cars) the sorriest excuses for exempt parking you can imagine. And then there is the sub-group of homo sapiens called Winter Texans, who start showing up in late fall until late spring with their out-of-state tags with varying degrees of license plate coverage to make it a free-for-all. It's been quite interesting living here....

But that being said, I would love to get a license plate holder from this car club for my little Z; I'll just cut and splice to be sure that I'm one of the very few (i.e. select) people that don't bother to cover the license plate...

I have heard of people being ticketed for this in TX, but usually they just tack it on when they pull you over for speeding or some other such thing.

Back in the Seventies my big brother had a license plate frame on his 510 that said "Do It in a Datsun!". He says he still has it in a box in his basement somewhere. I told him if he ever finds it I want it. I personally haven't tried "It" in the Z.... yet.

I have that one on the front of my Z!
