I have the 5 point belts sitting in place for now. I am waiting untill next weekend when I twist up the roll bar for installing the belts correct. March 4, 200916 yr Author comment_276158 I will look and see if I can find a brand. I picked them up about 3 years ago off E-Bay for my RX-7. I mounted them in the RX-7 and sold the car without the seats about a week later. So from there they have been hanging on the wall in my shop. The mounting was EASY vs. any other car I have ever installed aftermarket seats in. The sliders on the seats are ment so you buy a mounting kit for what ever car your putting them in. Then you use the four mounting studs on the seat sliders to bolt them on the mounts for the car. It just worked out so that two of the four studs line up with the holes for the stock Z seat. Then the other two studs just needed a hole drilled about 1" away from the stock seat holes. From there the seats set in just fine. March 4, 200916 yr Author comment_276274 I will be at the shop working on the Z today and see what I can find for a brand. As I said I picked them up a few years ago and e-bay dosnt keep history that far back. I dont think they had any markings or tags on them. But I will see what I can find. March 5, 200916 yr Author comment_276325 Thank you, they are nice and wrap around you very well. But, I will be the first to say they are alittle thin in the seat. I know they will be very nice for holding you in on a road corse or hard in the corners. But, think a road trip would take a few more stops or you would have a sore rearend after a few hours nonstop. I have also found you need the seat back up where it should be. If you recline them like I would in stock seat they lose that hug feeling from the upper part of the seat. I have been looking for them on ebay and found a few that are close. But wont trust the stock photos alot of those auctions use. I think they are the same ones that you would get from JEG's and Summit. Please keep in mind they do fit well in the car and feel wonderful for ME. But I am also a smaller guy @ 5'9" 170lbs. I think a large person would find them on the snug side. March 5, 200916 yr comment_276417 What mounting point did you use for the submarine belt: drill a new hole in the floor and weld in a nut, drill into the front seat bracket, etc? I've got a 5-point harness that I'll be putting in my car this spring and need to know. March 6, 200916 yr Author comment_276454 I have not mounted the belts yet. I am planing on dealing with that when I bend up the roll bar. I was thinking about putting a cross tube just in front of the seat mount. Then welding a mounting tab on that. March 6, 200916 yr Author comment_276471 Yes, the door shuts just fine and no touching or rubbing here. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31020-new-seats-are-in/#findComment-276471 Share on other sites
March 6, 200916 yr comment_276504 Your seats look to be about the same size as the Corbeau CR1 that I have as a driver's seat in my S30. It's a tight fit - both in the car and for my butt - but they both work. As for that submarine belt mounting location, I hope one of our racer members will answer to tell us how they do it. Hopefully, we will never have to rely upon the device and the speeds we'd be at in street machines don't compare to race speeds. But if it's good enough for them, the SCCA and NASA, it ought to be good enough for us.
