OK, I have been asked to use our site gallery for posting my photos. I dont mind that and would rather do things that way. BUT when you load a photo it needs aproved before you can use it. I wouldnt mind that what so ever if it didnt take days for this to happen. :stupid: I understand things get backed up and you may not have enough people that can do this. BUT!!!!! it makes NO since at all that when you load a photo it gets put up on the main page BEFORE it's aproved :finger: Then you click on that photo in the main page and it say's image pending??? :stupid::stupid::stupid:

Why not just let people that have say over 100 postings get preaproved for posting photos ? I cant help but think it would cut down alot of your work load. Once a person has that many postings here they know how it works anyway.

Sorry guys. We have one lead photo moderator, and for whatever reason, he hasn't visited the site in several weeks.

Speaking of moderators it appears that Victor Laury hasn't even visited in 6 months. Has anyone heard from him? I hope he's Ok.

Yeah, I left for a while myself. I realized at some point that keeping up with this site was comsuming way too much of my time, and some new things in my life (new job, new home) required more attention, so I just quit coming. Things have settled down a bit now and I have time for the car so here I am again, doing research and getting caught up in the need to stay up to date. Just another one of my obcessions I guess. I can't seem to do anything in moderation. Good thing I don't drink or do drugs. LOL

I feel for ya on the picture situation. It would be nice to have a couple of people to approve pics but I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Mike stays busy and victor has to organize new pics to certain folders to keep everything correctly updated.

there is a way around the approval thing though. Upload your pictures as normal and wait for them to be approved then after that start a new thread and place your pictures in the thread as attachments then you will be able to see them and link to them all at the same time with no waiting.

Well maybe we could get a few more people to volunteer as photo moderators?

Or maybe the site could take a more reactive approach, in that photos are automatically approved, and if someone uploads some bad photos users can report them and they can be removed, the same way bay posts are reported. Maybe there is a setting that will only allow users with x amount of posts to upload images.

Non-approved photos are already displayed on the home page as thumbnails.

I went back and read the post in the link that Mike B put up. Here is the answer from that one.

"The idea behind approving the photos is to assure they are put into the correct category. I've seen a lot of people uploading photos into their root gallery but never giving them a category. It gives us a better system if we can keep them categorized."

So, in the end it's more about being categorized then anything.

"there is a way around the approval thing though. Upload your pictures as normal and wait for them to be approved then after that start a new thread and place your pictures in the thread as attachments then you will be able to see them and link to them all at the same time with no waiting."

Come again?

When you upload to the gallery you have to wait for the approval.

When you up load as an attachment in a thread, the pictures are posted immediately in the thread. ;)

Now you can link to the thread and there is no waiting for approval.

Hi Everyone,

Has any changes been made in the last month on how to get the photos up faster? I too have a couple of albums to share on the forum and just want to make sure the site has received them for approval or if there was a glitch somewhere.

Wait till I come back from the MSA show....I will pray for that moderator.ROFL

Thanks!:cheeky:

Having more people volunteer to help with the tasks is the best answer.

If you frequent the site, moderation typically does not take long, approving pictures does take longer-when you categorize them.

Constructive criticism is a good thing, but I proved to myself that being an active part of the answer accomplishes far more than commenting on it ever will!

Will
