Posted March 4, 200916 yr comment_276190 The Mitty is less than 2 months away. It's a great event at Road Atlanta from April 30 to May 3, featuring a lot of vintage racing. If they do things like last year, you can wander all over the paddock area, too. If you're in the Southeast, it's definitely worth putting on your calendar. March 4, 200916 yr comment_276267 The Mitty is a fantastic event. I traveled down from Cincinnati to witness it for the first time last year. I was on Cloud NINE! Not only can you wander the paddocks but the quality of vehicles spectators drive to the event is incredible! Ford GTs, Vipers, Diablos, Tons of Ferraris, Lotus, Big Healeys, You name it, its there in one form or another. I was in the Lotus coral unfortunately without my Esprit as it was getting engine work done. Lotus shared it with Ferrari and Lamborghini and hosted a wonderful lunch for Lotus owners. Got to meet all sorts of fanatic Lotus owners and legends... Its an event not to miss! However this year I'm attending LOG29 in Birmingham and will not be able to attend both events. You hung out with the Lotus people with the Georgia Z Club just a few feet away? Shame on you. You should forfeit your Z;) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31024-the-mitty-is-just-around-the-corner/#findComment-276271 Share on other sites

March 22, 200915 yr comment_278494 I'll be racing in my 18th Walter Mitty. I'll be driving my 1965 Mustang in Group 3: I will also be driving and helping sort the historic Macau 1970 Datsun 240Z in the Thursday practice sessions. It will be the first race for the Macau car since its previous owner drove the heck out of it at last year's Mitty. March 24, 200915 yr comment_278648 I venture there every year, this year I will be in the Z again. It truly is a sensory overload and definitely should not be missed. I can't wait! Pics from the past two years are online:http://www.flickr.com/photos/acsc/collections/72157615740062393/I will also be going to LOG29 driving a 73 Europa that belongs to a friend of mine. This is also a wonderful event even if you merely just like Lotuses (Loti?). I can't wait for that one either! March 24, 200915 yr comment_278674 Send me a PM if there is anything I can do to help you. Thanks. I'll know more soon. HSR was in Sebring three weeks ago. Here are a few pics from that race. Lotus 23c (very fast): 1965 Jaguar E-type: 1965 Ferrari (1 of 12 built). The last time I saw it: 1968 Porsche 911 (no fault of the driver): The history of the 1970 Macau 240Z: http://www2.zhome.com:81/History/macau240Z.htm Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31024-the-mitty-is-just-around-the-corner/#findComment-278674 Share on other sites
March 24, 200915 yr comment_278689 The history of the 1970 Macau 240Z:http://www2.zhome.com:81/History/macau240Z.htmAs discussed a few times on this forum in the past ( and in personal correspondence with Mike Cammerata ), quite a lot of that is just plain wrong. I thought zhome.com was carrying an updated and corrected article now? March 24, 200915 yr comment_278698 As discussed a few times on this forum in the past ( and in personal correspondence with Mike Cammerata ), quite a lot of that is just plain wrong. Thanks, I'll pass that along to the owner. As you probably know, the new owner (Greg) did not have an opportunity to talk with Mike about the car.The Hyper-link from the Home Page is:I'll be sure Greg has this. He said that the file that he received with the car was very comprehensive.Since Mike scorched my butt last year at the Mitty, I look forward to driving the car next month.Side note: Another friend bought Mike's 1969 Triumph GT6+. After picking the car up and towing it home, he (Jerry) had a chance to go over the paperwork on the car. Mike bought the car new and did autocross before he started road racing it. Mike kept notes on every single event that he attended in the car. Jerry discovered in the paperwork that this Triumph was one of a few cars that the factory pulled off the assembly line and prepped for race use. Mike never told anyone.
