I have a new ignition coil and resistor for my 240z, but I have no idea how to mount the resistor onto the coil bracket. Nissan changed the design of the bracket for the coil and the resistor, so I'm confused as to how I'm supposed to do this. Is there some type of clip or screw I need? The coil bracket has one hole on the top of it and the resistor also has one hole.

I don't really understand what you're saying. So how does the resistor attach to the coil bracket? Are you saying that the resistor is not supposed to be attached to the top of the coil?

The resistor mounts alone under the coil. It has nothing to do with the coil mount. You will find a screw hole under where you mount the coil. Just look about 3" or so under where you are mounting the coil.

The resistor mounts separately below the coil in it's own hole. Not in, on, or under the coil bracket.

What year 240z is that a picture of? Mine is a 1970. The resistor that is currently in the car is clipped on top of the coil.

How old is your Z ? Do you think that maybe someone has moved the resister to a different location ? Mine was located just below the coil but horizontal not vertical like in the picture. I tossed mine years ago.

My resistor is bypassed, but still mounted in place. And I'm using a Pertronix coil, but it is mounted in the factory coil bracket. As Gary noted, the resistor is mounted horizontally, just under the coil. It mounts using the same bolt as the lower ear of the coil bracket - it just bolts in place, doesn't 'clip' to it in any way.

I can't find a picture of that part of the car right now - I'll try to remember to grab the camera and post one after I get home this evening.
