arne johnnyrock you posted while i wrote this.......man you guys are way cool (probably tough too)

When purchasing a car it's always best to keep a critical eye. Especially when the car is hundreds or thousands of miles away and all you have is a few pictures and a description. All talk of the car so far has been totally legitimate and no one outright called the seller a liar.

However, if you are the seller (which I believe you are) you have done yourself a disservice by representing yourself as a 3rd party in earlier posts. That is tantamount to lying, and I think you've just alienated a good number of potential buyers.

Good day.

This is at least the 4th or 5th time I have seen that car on eBay recently. I seem to recall seeing a pretty ridiculous Buy-It-Now price on it at least once.

NEVER on ebay

OWNED LOL

am I cool now too? or 16?

Come on now - that's as lame as the ''I know you are but what am I '' routine.

True, my bad, and I offer my apologies. I recalled that I have seen a nice looking 240Z from Reno several times over the past few months, and assumed this was the same car. I was wrong. Went back and looked, and the car I was thinking of is yellow. So ignore my comments on reserves and such - they don't apply to this car.

BTW, I probably mis-remembered due to my advancing age, not because I'm 16. But some of us older guys do keep up a bit.

Pick it apart all you want, people. But the pictures still appear to show a remarkably solid car. I think it would be a good car if the price weren't too nutso. I'd want to inspect it in person, of course, but if it checks out as non-rusty it's worth a fair amount.
Yes, picking eBay cars apart always seems to be a favored past-time here. But as I said above, your car appears to be a solid, honest car. I don't want show cars, I want cars I can drive. So if I was in the market, and was close enough to see it in person, I'd be looking hard at this car. All this fuss about the undersides - sheesh! I don't think mine looks all that different, probably because I don't try to keep it detailed underneath, I'm too busy driving it.

Tim, I can certainly understand wanting to respond to the criticism posted here. Might have been better to be more up front early on, but no big deal.

But a better way to approach this might have been to post your pictures here for critique and assistance in presenting the car on eBay in its best light. Then when these questions came up, you could have addressed them prior to the auction. Just a thought.

One thing I have noticed about pictures taken by an amateur such as myself, is how bad a particular part or item can look in an Ebay ad, when in fact the part or item is actually in very good condition. The opposite is true for someone who is blessed in the art of photography. They can make a 25 footer look great and entice more people to bid. I would never rely on Ebay pics alone to make a judgement of a cars condition. We have all heard the horror stories. I'm sure some great deals have been missed also, where a well kept solid survivor didn't show well in the pics. If interested, go look it over or have someone else, who's opinion you trust check it out.

There is nothing tantamount to anything. If you attack my character and imply dishonesty then that is a problem. I was simply watching making benign comments, I really didnt want to get involved. You may characterize yourself as a sleuth, a paladin or whatever but at the end of the day it is just a car. No one screwed your wife, no one killed your dog, no one stole your cupcake. Now I could say that you representing yourself as anything but a keyboard commando bitch is tantamount to lying but I wouldnt do that. So lets keep it clean shall we?

Good Day.

Thnx Arne. Your right, It may have been better to post here for critique and criticism, but honestly it wasnt that big of a deal to me. My universe is much larger than a car. It only becomes irritating when someone attacks your character when all you want is to be left alone. How often do I post here? I just read. I did not start this post but came across it. I guess I should have remained silent but it is difficult. I would like to go back to reading, If I alienated anyone I honestly dont care, the car will sell, on ebay or elsewhere, Im not in any hurry. It does remind me of Anabolex though, alot.

As I read, I realized that the seller was xcyter, and was pretending to to be someone else on here. Kind of obvious. Now caught with his pants down, Xcyter seems awfully defensive about his doings and "who he is". The "I don't give a sh!+ attitude is typical posturing in this situation as well. There is no character assasination coming from me. The guy lost some credibility because he misrepresented himself. I do kind of size people up by their behavior. Only Exciter knows if he honestly wants the buyer to know exactly what condition the car is in. Unfortunately, he's off to a bad start here with the most extensive group of die hard Z enthusiasts. Keep in mind, people, that we are dealing in the used car business, and for most salesmen, bullshit is part of the game, kind of like resume embellishment.

Back to the car. Most of these cars have some rust. We all know that. It's always more than it looks. The passenger side dogleg looks like it's had a cheap once over. If he is willing to show quality, hi resolution pics of the critical areas we want to know about, to a potential buyer, that would be refreshing. Maybe he will do so and "edit" his listing. Let's see...

I WOULD NEVER PURCHASE A CAR SIGHT UNSEEN. If you do so, expect to find many dissapointing details that you wish you knew about before you sent the $$.

The only opinion I can add is that I find this all amusing. I have nothing to say about the car because I'm not looking to buy one nor anything about the seller since I have no experience with him and, like I said, I'm not looking to buy one. But, argue on, it makes for good reading.

I already said I liked and it looks good... so please don't think Im attacking your car. But I don't get why you tried to pretend you were someone else with no vested interest. Post #17 starts with "Hey Im just trying to give this poor guy the benefit of the doubt." I think in post #23 you actually go from 3rd person to 1st person because you initially said you went to look at the car, then work it into a martyr type post. Then you grandstand a bit and try to make a few people feel bad for commenting on it after its found out you arent being truthful.

I think the topic has been diverted from focusing on your car as a direct result of the posts you've made. Good luck with the sale.
